Hello fellow stangers. I am at a cross roads as to what to do next to my car.

I have a intake, bassani axle back, and a dyno tune. Numbers in sig.

I am unsure of what to do next. I am doing this all on a budget.

I eventually wanna do suspension (gt500 takeoffs or something used to keep costs down) but I think it's too expensive right now.

Which mod should I do next?

LTs?
Shorties?
UDP?

I am trying to keep it budget friendly :) So if anyone knows someone selling a used pair of LTs let me know.

Thanks,
Tim

+1 gears are probably your next best mod. Plan ahead though! If you want to go F/I later on then maybe just do 3.73s for now. If not then 4.10s are a consistent recommendation from most folks.

Other than that, pullies are nice for half to 2/3 the price of gears and it's a diy project with proper tools. Maybe a short throw shifter? Just trowing ideas out there...

Just extra power for cruising around town. I do want better handling but mainly for a slight drop and BETTER ride quality. The roads where I live SUCKKKKKKKK. I live in Galveston whic is a very old old town with shotty roads :(

Also I do not want 4.10 gears again. They are too steep and the gas mileage on the highway sucks. I had them in my old 2001 slowmatic and well.. they were part of the reason why I wrecked it... heh :) When I say part I mean 10% gear, 90% me being an idiot

Honestly, if you are considering LTs in your budget, what about swapping out cams? It's about the same price range as LTs and mid pipe, and both would require you to get a tune. I just know that unless it's something big like cam, gears, F/I, it's kind of hard to feel that your money was worth it when you just drive around town. If you did LTs, you'd have a nice power gain, but I don't think you'd really get to use the new power all that much because of where it is in the power band. My vote is cams if they are within your budget, you'll get a nice power gain and you'll get that nice lopey sound. I think it's something you'd be happy you did.

Definately dont do shortys.. waste of money. LTs are expensive but on this year model will give you a lot of horsepower. around 15-20. I know it sounds ridiculous but it does. If you want to go cheap think about gears. for 150 you can get the gears and install is 250-350. So for around 500 your looking at utilizing more of you power through each gear. UDP are cheap as well but you probably wont see the HP gain as you would from gear or LT's. If you get Lt's your going to have to get a midpipe and at that pointt your looking at around 900-1200 before install.. Im in the same boat you are andbudget is a big issue. Hopefully I helped a little from experience

That's what I was just thinking. The stage 1 nsr's because they appearently dont require new springs? My car dynoed 291rwhp with just intake and 93 tune here in houston.. where is the cheapest place to get the cam set? brenspeed has them for 699 I believe? Would cams and shorties be worth it? Or cams and maybe an o/r x? I have read the stock manifolds flow pretty well actually.

I only have JLT CAI and MagnaflowMagnapack Cat-back and a tune and Im at 307 rwHP, and 310 ftlbs torque. I also have to agree, if you have the money to do LTs and a midpipe go for hot rod cams. biggest and most hp out of a cam without having to replace springs and retainers so it will keep cost to about the same

Thanks for all the help guys! I really appreciate the input. So it's down to cams or long tubes.

I was going to go with the pypes LTs/with xpipe with the code from am.com

or which cams and where? I have a really good mechanic who can install for dirt cheap :)

Also I was wondering it's been awhile since I've been on here. I never got on once I wrecked my 01.. I was looking for the code for am.com but it seems now it's hidden? I was going to order the white shifter and a shorty antenna! ha

LT's will give you great tone and some more power for sure but not OMG power. I just installed pypes LTs with an h pipe..........great fitment, no install issues.

Cams.....hotrods or brenspeeds new detroit rockers. Check em out. I just ordered some myself and cant wait to install them.

If you aren't wanting to do cams, I'd stick with the FRPP hot rod. I'm doing the Brenspeed Detroit Rockers and even though they don't REQUIRE changing the rear gears like the higher Comp Cams, Brenspeed still said that it would help driveability since they are a little rougher than the FRPP cams... Just some food for thought.

bump please guys I'm thinking of ordering them today or tomorrow... it's perfect price for me! Then I'll do cams in another month and hope for around 330rwhp n/a. Thats plenty for me!
