I have a stock 5.0 in a 66 mustang convertible. Want a more rough idle/lope but only want to change the cam. What is a nice sounding cam with a little performance boost good for a stock 5.0 HO? Running an AOD, has a mild performance stall, currently stalls just over 2000. 2.5 exhaust. Rear is 380's. Thanks for the help.

You're going to have about a 1500 RPM power band with a B cam. The B cam likes RPM when matched with good parts. Match it up with stock heads, springs and intake and what you'll end up with is an engine with no bottom end that won't make power past 5,000 RPM.

You're gonna have to change the springs at a minimum. You may also need to change the pushrods but if you're the kind of guy that likes things "good enough" then they should be okay.

for a good lope get a 110 or 112 lsa cam, and since everything else is stock stay below 220* duration, and try to find a exhaust biased cam. 218/224 or 212/218 something like that so you can keep that bottom end =)...look at comp cams or anderson motorsports. TFS is always a popular pick as well.

also though i dont think the stock heads even flow passed .500 lift really
