As I stated, I'm looking to buy an 06 or 07 GT convertible. Realizing that 06 is only the second year of production, so are there any updates with an 07 that I'll regret not having with an 06?

I've seen a couple of Roush editions that I really like. I can pass on some of the interior stuff like the seats and I'm fine with the rear of the vehicle, but would really like to have a Roush or Shelby style front end. I can certainly buy a stock GT much cheaper than a Stage 1 Roush and there's more to choose from, so what kind of $$ would I run into to upgrade the front end.

Any other tips or suggestions will be appreciated

Thanks

Just curious, do you look into a painted CDC chin spoiler on a GT? Easy mod and looks great painted. Not very expenses and changes the entire front end.

I dont want to post a pic of mine since it is painted black. This is Heavy's. Very nice stang. I really like the painted chin spoiler. Someone on the board even has one with the center black like the CS stangs.

A couple of places online sell them pre-painted.

Thanks, appreciate it. That does give it the more aggressive look that I have in mind, and it's got to a whole lot cheaper than replacing most or all of the nose. That hood scoop certainly helps too.

Again, any reason to go to an 07 over an 06. Actually right now, with the pricing I'm seeing I may even spring for an 08.

No real difference in 06 and 07 that I know of. Some 07s (option package maybe) have an aux jack in the center console. I am adding an aux to my 06 for about $65, so no real big deal. Now if you go with the 08, not sure when it happened, but get the revised heads that utilize a one piece spark plug from the factory. This wouldn't influence me either way though. I would get the year 06/07/08 that was the best deal when considering mileage, looks, color of your choice, etc and price. Older car can give you more money to fix it up the way you want your stang to look and perform.

Still looking for a car?

I have a 2006 Mustang GT Convertible for sale. Yellow with black top & black leather interior (premium package). Car has 4,353 miles on it. I bought it new and it just sits in my garage. Let me know if your interested.

The standard aux jack is nice but as noted above easy and cheap to add to earlier cars.

I waited a couple of months before ordering mine to get a couple of new options for '07. I prefer the black cloth top to the standard top. The heated seats mean I can drop the top when it's a little cooler without the wife complaining.

I'd go for an 08/09 with the revised heads if you plan on keeping it and ever want to change the spark plugs :nice: You also stand a better chance of having some factory warranty left in case any issues arise during your first year of ownership.

How big an issue are the spark plugs? I've considered the 08 as the price is not that much different.

I recently bought an 07 GT coupe with 25K miles. It was the lowest mileage I could find on anything but a '09 or '10, save a couple of GT500s. I just wasn't ready to sink the money into a GT500 for a third car. I drove '06-08 models and didn't really notice any difference. Get the one with the lowest mileage for the price.

Thanks for your comments. I picked up this 06 here in Toronto for less than they're selling for in the US - the owner ( or his wife ) wanted out of it. 21,000km ( 12,000 miles ), May to Sept use only, 20" chrome Bulletts, billet grilles ( not sure on those yet ), shorty antenna, cold air intake, changed out front signals, Cherry Bomb exhaust, Predator tuner, leather, Shaker 500. About the only thing I want to do with it is add the CDC Classic front spoiler.

Looks nice. Read your post wrong for stuff on car already.

Add the CDC to the front. One option is painting the outer white and the center black (CS look).

I also added an Ipod/Iphone/MP3 connection to my shaker500 for a very reasonable price (< $80)

See if this helps you on the Ipod/Iphone connection (from my 2006GT with shaker500)

Depends on where you want the control to be. For shaker500 control, expect to pay $165-$200 depending on brand. For Ipod/Iphone/Mp3 player control, expect to pay about $80 including the cable - plus it charges the Ipod/Iphone.

Brandmotion are about $170:

I went with PAC unit AAI-FRD04: ($62 now, was $58)

Found a generic version with 3.5mm jack and Iphone/Ipod < $20) An IS75 charging cable is the brand one:
