I came across a really good deal on a new take-off hood from a GT500 that happens to already be the correct color for my car, a vista blue '09 V6. I had been searching for custom hoods for my car anyway, and I really like the look of the Shelby hood, but according to the FRPP catalog it says this hood will interfere with the regular Mustang's bumper cover/grille. Do you guys know if I can use this hood with some minor mods or is it too much work to be worth it? I hate to pass up a good deal on something that I really like the looks of, I just didn't want to spend the money only to find out it won't fit.

I wanted to do this as well with my car... you also need to change the front bumper cover... Ford did that to make sure we cant easily clone the GT500's..lol

It will fit, but Nasty is right. Without the GT500 bumper/grill, or a bumper and grill made for a GT500, it doesn't look right. The lines don't match up right, particularly around the grill.

Wow...I figured the hood wouldnt even close!? I wanna see pics if anyone has them.. just curious, cuz 2 of my buddies did gt5 front conversions and they def did bumper and hood.. I wanna do it w/ my 2010 soo bad...but I think I'm gonna wait a while and see what the 2011 or 2012 gt500 and aftermarket has in store..

Here are some photos of my customer's Shelby GT with the GT500 hood.

Thanks for the pics. That's an interstering look, a little different. I think it works because the car is black, but now that I see the pics I have some doubts how it would look on my car being vista blue. I think the black color down plays the slight difference in shape between the hood leading edge and grille/headlight area. The stripes might also have an affect on how much the eye sees of that little mismatch. My car being blue, and not having stripes, I think might highlight those dfferences.
