Looking to help light up my front end by cutting out the front fender walls. I have a plasma cutter and torch so cutting wont be the problem.. Has anyone done this and have any advice? Also does anyone have any pictures of thier engine bay with the fenderswells cut out? please post

First question: Why? You might save 10lbs by cutting out the thin sheetmetal around the strut towers, but you'll lose some of the structural integrity in the process. That leads me to the second question: You don't mean the strut towers, do you? If so, what's going to support your front suspension?

Im not wanting to take away the strengh. I was just looking at way to lighten up my front even more and help get air in. I dont drive the car in the rain or snow so i was wanting just to take out the lining. I have done a few mods in weight reduction already on the front such as battery relocation to rear smog and a/c delete.. kept heater box for defrost.. front bumper braces removed.. carb def helped. carpet pad removed spare jack etc ..still has stock seats lookin to get 2 lightweight buckets.

Are you talking about the plastic liners? Just unscrew and remove them. There are some sound deadeners in there too that you can yank. About 5 pounds only though. The 93r did not come with them.

Or are you really talking about cutting up your strut towers?

The inner fender wells are plastic liners that, if you really want to lose the one pound per side, are just held in by a few screws and pins. You CANNOT remove any of the sheet metal of the engine compartment with seriously compromising the structural integrity of the car.

Good luck ever selling that car.
