So im taking the fastback out of the garage, going to a local club bbq. This morning i moved our 28ft toyhauler from one side if the driveway to the other.I gave myself enough room to get in and out of the garage. So im backing up knowing in REALLY close to the corner of the trailer.I shut the engine off and let it roll back, then i hear the sound of FLAKING paint.Oh *****, i start the car,hit the line lock so it doesnt roll and move foward.Looked at the right rear wheel well, the paint was chipped around the whole arch down to the primer:notnice:and theres a wave in the arch. This is a 4 stage paint job, so there is no way to fis it or reshoot the panel and have it match.

But heres the bad part...............I REALLY DIDNT CARE.I dabbed on some touch up paint that looks like crap and still left.Is it time for me to move on to a new project?

on the up side, car is running great with the fuel injection :)

That totally blows! I think you are just in shock and it hasn't really hit you yet... In a day or two you might.. uh, you don't own a gun do you?

You have an awesome car. Enjoy it.
honestly, it doesnt bother me.Ive got my time out of this car. I wont get rid of it, because my mom bought it brand new in 11/64.I wanted to make a full on strip car, and this just make it one less of a show car that it was.

Im gonna keep putting color on it to fill in the chip and then load my airbrush and blow some clear on it.Then wet sand and buff.Enough to make it less noticable.

That sucks dude! At least it wasn't worse than that. I would fix it, but don't do fender flares, puke.

After you do what your saying, I bet nobody will even notice it.

Id do a mini tub before flares. And i dont think its time for a new car. Since my car has been in the garage being worked on, things happen, scratches, dings ect. Its ganna happen. It took me a long time to kinda get over that. If mine was painted, id probably be alot more pissed, but whats done is done. So what do you do?

And next time, make sure you have more room before you move the car. lol

I totally sympathize ... hated it when I put my first chip in the new paint with a badly stack snow shovel.

Touch up paint may not look perfect (though yours looks good on camera and will look better after multiple coats and the clear), but it keeps me from wanting to kick something every time I look at the general area.
