Third Brake Light Scratching

I am on my second 3rd brake light, and they are spendy. 90 bucks plus.

I've tried everything, including good plastic polishes from Meguiar's and also the 2000 grit sand paper. Nothing works ! Makes me wonder why the stock taillights don't behave like this, and what the heck is the difference in plastics ?

Anybody have success fixing the scratches in these lenses ?

sand all the lights with 600 grit paper by hand or da dont matter but sand them till the finish is a white haze that you can not see through the lens. then get you duplicolor clear coat and spray the lens. first coat wet same way with the next two coats as desired. that will fix your problems with scratches and outside fade. if you dont want to fool with it take it to your local body shop and they can do it and tint them if youd like. but that route will cost lil more than doin it yourself

3M makes a plastic headlight resto kit, I've used it and it works awesome!!! Just be sure to take your time and complete all the steps. It's like $20 and all you need is a drill, it comes with all the different abbrasive pads and polish. Walmart is where I got mine.

First off, thanks to the guys who replied to my post ! Good karma is on your way !

I wound up using the Meguiar's headlight resto kit ( requires a drill), and the third brake light looks good, now. Saved me $90.

I have no doubt that the 600 grit sanding, followed by a clear coat, would have worked, as well.

Thanks again.
