Portland
I'm about to start building a new 8.8 for my car and I'm thinking about getting the axle tubes welded to the center section while I have everything apart. Apparently to do this right the axle needs to be stripped down to the bare housing, the cast iron center section needs to be be preheated before welding and then finally allowed to cool slowly by burying it in sand or some other way. Supposedly just running a bead with a mig like you would with steel to steel is not so good, since if there isn't good penetration into the cast iron it will probably just crack when the area be stressed.

That being said, does anyone know somewhere or someone who can properly weld cast iron in or around Portland?
