cobra fuel pump vs gt...slow starting cobra

Hi, I replaced the stock fuel pump in my 97 cobra with a 255. The new one must be for a gt since the box said 4.6 but the fuel intake was in a different location. I modified the holder an installed it...The car runs fine but when you park it over night you have to start it 4 times or so before it will keep running. It hits an dies. I tried turning the key a few times to "prime" it but same thing happens. Once it starts it's fine, if you shut it off an restart it soon it's fine. Any ideas? thanks.

Sounds like its not sealing properly (the connection modification) or some sort of "backflow preventor" feature that it now does not have. like the fuel all runs back after sitting and it now has to clear the lines and rails of air. Did you by chance open the lines and create a new problem like O-rings leaking?
