Battery gauge on 95gt always at "N" or lower

Hello everyone, I have a 95 Gt that is acting as if it's not being charged properly. I had the alt tested at the local auto store and I checked out, tomorrow I will break out the multimeter and double check but I'm sure it's fine there. The car starts fine/runs and drives fine, yet the darn gauge stays around the "N", sometimes after running for a while it may go up to the middle, however the temp sensor runs a bit hot, as well as the oil pressure runs high. I'm thinking it's a voltage regulating problem SOMEWHERE, however I just want input and maybe someone has had this problem before.

EDIT***

Is there a wiring diagram that shows what wires coming off the alternator should have what voltage running through it? Not the power wire, but the ones on the connectors that go to the computer/gauge, I'm thinking it may lie in there.***

Thanks!

Well after testing the alternator connectors, the A read battery voltage 13V+, the S read about half of that at 6.5V, and the I read .012 which is insignificant. I took off the positive cable on the battery and the car stayed running just fine as it should IF the alt is good, so that checks out. All of the gauges are working correctly again so I'm guessing the connector may have been a bit loose due to the retaining tabs being broken off. However the alt test shows that it's still functioning correctly.

The gauge is still around the N/O and I'm leaning towards a corroded/poor ground or just a bad battery. It's a Yellow Top Optima battery that is rather old so I will have to get it tested and see what happens. If that checks out ok it HAS to be a bad ground somewhere in the engine bay or underneath the steering column somewhere.

The car did previously have an alarm installed but that was removed prior to me owning it, I'm thinking a ground may have been tampered with. Does anyone happen to have a ground listing for these cars wether it be the engine bay or drivers side interior? Thanks everyone in advance!

Never disconnect a battery cable while the car is running. It can create a huge voltage spike.

What does your meter show while your gauge reads "N"? Does raising the idle slightly help?
