so I started putting on my header's (Ford Racing Shorty's) and to my surprise they turned out to be easy UNTIL the drivers side. I tried about a thousand different angles and slightly bending the dip stick and getting no were. Since this is my first time doing headers I was wondering if you guys had any tips, it looks like if I could remove the dip stick tube I could install the header then reinstall the tube no problem but I cant find anything on how to remove it. would that be a good way to go?

I'll post some pics once i find my camera

My BBK's go in from the top, just drop right in.Pull the dipstick tube gently from the block where it slips in,and then drop the header in.After all that, fit the tube back into place. You may need to clearance the tube bracket where it bolts to the header bolt which is common with aftermarket headers.

The dipstick tube is just a friction fit. Once it's out of the way, the header drops right in. It should take less than 20 minutes to accomplish.

thanks for the conformation I will try this tomorrow, I knew there had to be a better way then fighting that thing for 2 hours and since this looks like the best opportunity for new plugs I will be picking up some Motocrafts as well

got the new plugs in and gaped them to .048 and indexed them as straight up as I could without over tightening but the dip stick will have to wait for another day, when you guys took your dip stick out did you use pliers? I didn't try using them because I don't want to crush the tube but it's in there really good, it wiggles back and forth a bit but doesn't want to come out. maybe I'm just being to careful?

Twist and pull upwards, but be careful - its a pain in the ass if you break the tube.
Pliers are probably not a good idea, you will most likely squeeze the tube and increase the chances of breaking it.
Put on some good working gloves and go for it - gently but firmly :nice:

well that was easy! I guess I was just being to careful with it and with the dip stick out the header went on in less the 20 min! I can't believe how easy these were with all the help the fours given me. Thanks for all the help.
