I originally posted this question on tech by mistake this morning. The '08-'09 Bullitt sure seems appealing and a clean low mileage one can be had here in the NY Metro area for between $24-$26k. After driving 5.0 foxes from 1895-2008 am I better of going for the additional $10k and getting a '11 5.0? The Bullitt seems like such an all around good car but will I miss the 5.0 litre grunt?

depends on what you want. $10,000 in upgrades will make a heck of a car and defintely a 5.0 beater. Bullitt is limited production so it will always have a little edge in resale. I don't like the 2010-11 body style as much as the 05-09, but that's purely subjective. I'd buy the Bullitt, spend half of the extra $10,000 and have a heck of a car. Remember the second you buy an 11 it's a used car. The Bullitt is too, but it's already devalued and it won't take near the nosedive in value.

Buy the Bullitt - I agree with Ken04...I really do not like the new rear end /tail ights (no one does) ....but w/add-on's you can make that Bullitt a killer ride - I would hack off the rear button/get a new rear valance cover and get rid of those black rims....but overall if you can find a low mileaged one - steal it - tell the dealer everyone is now after the new 5.0.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I'm inclined to go with the Bullit also for all of the reasons you guys have stated. I am disappointed with the tailights on the '10's +. I realize that the '11 5.0 is a totally different animal from the 5.0 ohv, still its got .4 litre on the 4.6 & the rev happiness appeals to me as well. The Bullitt seems to be a pretty well balanced performance car as it stands. Of course the modding bug will bight sooner or later even if I got the 5.0.

i beg to differ. everytime i hear of someone that doesn't like the looks of the 10+ cars they've turned out to be a 05-09 owner consistently across the board. the new taillights are incredibly classy and i wouldn't change a thing about them. the 05-09's on the other hand, are boring in comparison aesthetically.

i think ya got your figures backwards. the new 5.0 is worth an extra 10 grand on the bullitt.

....WRONG!
Put your 'crack' pipe down for a minute - and listen up......

The new tail lights are classy???- yeah if you own a Honda you are probably right - to 'rice burner' for my tastes -

As a 2007 gt Owner ....I do like the 10's aggresive front + side styling - even the stock rims and the better interior - ford just screwed themselves with not running the overall design by any mustang clubs etc.....remember it was some big secret..... just glimpses of parts ????....well some 1/2 of a F*g thought the rear tail-lights and big button would be interesting in some ford design studio somewhere and now they have a goofy looking rear end -they F'd up...and now I have my ford dealer calling me all the time to come in and LQQk at the '10/'11 - I was even considering getting my wife one - but I complained so much about the rear end - she said she would not even consider it....because it's dumb dude...not my fault -and it's not yours ... if your going to get one - get a roush one - the rims are better and they have a better overall design.....

Something to keep in mind... if you are worried about the resale - you will barely see any difference in the Bullitt and regular GT when SELLING the car to the dealer. The dealer, on the other hand, will charge a little bit of a premium.

I personally think that if you can afford it, you're selling yourself short by choosing the '08-'09 Bullitt, over the GT.

Even though the '05-'09 cars are similar, you get so much more with the '11 GT. Not only are you picking up 100hp, but you get the ultra slick 6-speed trans, a more sport oriented suspension, fresh new sheetmetal, an ergonomicly improved and far more refined interior, as well as an option of better brakes, HID's and lower rear gear ratio's. Not to mention a car with 2-3 years more factory warranty on it.

Those features alone are worth the 10K difference.....easy!!!

Easy does it. Debate if you wish, but be respectful and tactful. :nonono:

Mad guitar - sorry for the typo - it was a 1985 GT. Gearbanger - I agree with you about the 100 + hp & the six speed, I like the headlights & the hood of the '11. The bullitt came with 3:73's and sport suspension std. , and the brakes are upgraded from the GT. As far as the interior, anything '05 & up is worlds better than the foxes that I owned. I'm thinking that the Bullitt's 13.8 1/4 mile, good handling & decent brakes would make for a real fun/comfortable street car for 10K less. I went to Carlisle today and there were only 3 -5.0 '11 cars in the show field & the owner's weren't around to talk to but I spoke to one guy who with a '09 who has a 5.0 '11 car on order & he's real excited about it. There were eight '08-'09 bullitts there, I spoke with six of them, two were former Chevy guys/Ford haters - they love their Bullitt's. Spoke to a Mopar guy who bought an '05 GT new, he's trading it in with 80k on it in 2 weeks for a new Challenger. He said the '05 GT is the best car he ever owned and the only Ford. I asked him how come he didn't go for the 5.0 '11? Said he wasn't crazy about the styling & he had owned a '70 Challenger & loved it - so he was happy to be able to buy a Mopar performance car again. Hope for his sake that the Challenger can measure up to the Ford quality. Thanks again for all your input, I'm not in a hurry to make up my mind but I am itchin' to get back in a Stang!

A couple of points to note. The '11 GT can be had with the Shelby GT500's 14" Brembo brake upgrade, where the Bullitt was only available with the 13" Brembo's. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but the differences are apparently quite apparent as far as clamping force and fade resistance is concerned.

Also, as nice as the '05-'09 interiors are, the '10-'11 interiors are that much better. Cleaner appearance, smoother edges, more ergonomic placement of the controls, etc. Yes, the Bullitt has the retro gauges and some brushed aluminum, but functionality wise, it’s the same as any Mustang GT of that era.

I love my bullitt but I'm really liking the 11,what a car. That being said, the 11 will be a GT and in a few years the market will be flooded with them like back in the day,and the low production, numbered cars will still be special.Like my bullitt, thats why it only gets a tuner, gears and pulley,it never sees rain and stays detailed in every area.
