Looking at an '01 Z06

Vettes are fine on the street, I gotten 3 full size golf bags in mine, and even an entire 4 wheel track drag pack.

The motor is easier to work on than a 2v, 3v, or 4v car. The rear end is just like a cobra with an IRS and not any more difficult to work on. The vette can do just about anything you want it to do except haul 4 people, and get good gas milage.(Never had more than 1 person in my stangs since I removed the back seats) My car with 3.90's(mn12 transmission, equal to 4.10's in a c5 mn6) gets 27+mpg. Stock with a tune and headers, I was getting 30mpg at 70-75mph.

That's about what my dad was getting stock. Not to sure not with the bolt ons and pro charger

The procharger will not really affect MPG that much, until you get in to boost. On the freeway, you might lose a little bit.

I'm assuming you have the stock 243 heads worked a bit with a cam. I'd bet that Vengeance racing might have done the work, which is a good thing in your area. They are the best tuner in your state. Your MN12 tranny is going to be geared lower than the MN6 in a 99-04 C5 and FRC. 4.10's in a c5 are somewhat similar to 3.90's in a Z06. You will also have a weight advantage over a normal C5/FRC from the TI exhaust, thiner glass, lightweight wheels, etc.

actually me and my dad were talking about the car again today. i have two people interested in my car, and the guy dropped the price down to $15,000. he really wants me to get his car. i know that he wont loose mpg with the procharger, he doesnt get into boost until about 3000rpm. my dad says he is willing to cosign if i have to have one but he set some rules for me. looks like ill have it im hoping. its deff gonna get some tlc when i get it. deff detailing it my dads way, lol

I wouldn't do it if you need somebody to cosign. Quick cars, even 11 second cars bone stock with great driving and weather, but not 1320 cars. If you race in the 1/4, have a big chunck set aside for hard launches. Your rear, tranny, half shafts, axles, clutch, are all going to break on a hard launch. These cars are not made for drag racing.

These cars back half the end of the track just to make up for an easy launch, and still fall short of mustangs, fbodys, and newer cars.

I just read this whole thread..and 1 if you are getting a good condition z06 for under $20,000 with a clean title and looks/runs/drives good and is senior citizen owned.. you cant go wrong, you can get it and sell it if you wanted to and make $$$. I build Corvette and Mustangs, they are two totally different cups of tea.. but a cammed and full bolt on z06 is an easy 11 second pump gas streetcar, thats a fact, and it the things nice, and hasnt been repainted or wrecked, and you can get it FOR $15,000!!! You better jump on it.. if not.. please give me the info..lol..we just bought one for our team, an 02 w/ 30K miles w/ a cam and 4.10's and all the boltons for $24,000, a far cry from $15,000!!! And, you can look me up on streetfire.net search Undisputed and youll find my vids, we HAVE BUILT AND RELENTLESS TESTED C5 AND Z6 VETTES, AND THEY ARE VERY TOUGH! I love my stang, but Z06's are really an awesome breed. Let me know what goes on, good luck, and check out some of my vids, you'll see those Vettes are pretty tough.. TO DATE I HAVE NEVER BROKEN ONE (10 YEARS WE BEEN BUILDING THEM) Other than stock clutches (with slicks) and one car shift linkage.. thats 10+ years of building and RACING on and off the track. As long as you dont rev them past 6700 w/ stock valve springs your good to go!:flag:

I had a 02 supercharged z06 (ecs/PAXTON) and your gas mileage doesn't really change until your pedal hits the floor and boost hits as mentioned earlier. only issue with 01's was some of them had bad rings and burned a bit of oil.

if you make it a track car - invest in a DTE or RPM rear end (hardent output shafts ect)

ECS makes a nice powerglide conversion for when you really wanna for fast and not break in the 1/4

Nice find... You'd be crazy to pass that car up for that price. Corvette's are not really my thing, but that would seriously be difficult to pass up! Z06's are f'n bad a**
