Passenger window goes ruump, ruump when activating

I have an appt. on Tuesday at a good shop, but it's often good to be able to suggest options. My passenger window just started making noise when trying to open or close it. When it would not return to fully closed I opened door and pulled it up as I depressed the button. That got it closed. Any ideas or thoughts for me to take to shop. No excited about buying motor and hoping in might be more minor after reading a few posts from a search here. Bushings?? etc. Thanks.

yeah....that is standard for our window motors....the motor is fine but the inner drive gear that the motor turns, is shot...it is plastic & is part of the motor assembly...:(
if you are mechaniclly inclined like some of us are.. it can be repaired rather easily........kinda hard to explain & I don't have any pics of how to do it....Maybe someone on here can explain it for you.....
in short,#1 remove the motor from the door, #2 take the gear cover off of the motor assembly,#3 remove all of the "chewed up plastic gear" #4 clean the grease off of the inner assembly & #5 fill the "void" where the gear used to be.. with jb weld or something of that nature......installation is the reverse of removal....:)
like I said, it is hard for me to explain but I think if you get the motor out, apart & find the disentegrated plastic gear...my rambling will make much more sense...:) the gear that is destroyed...shouldn't have been a gear to start with...it is there to go bad so you will have to buy another motor....
hopefully someone else can describe the repair better...good luck with it.

"disclaimer"::: "information is to be taken with a grain of salt." there is no gaurantee that your motor is not bad.....BUT, in every case I have dealt with....the motor was fine but the gear was bad.....the above JB weld procedure has worked flawlessly for me several times...

393strokervert is 100% correct, this is a fairly common problem. The repair shop probably won't have any idea about replacing the bushings in the motor, so they'll sell you a new window motor at a high price. If you are handy with tools and have the time & patience to handle this, you can fix this problem for $20 or less. Here's a link to instructions on replacing the bushings, with photos and where to buy the replacement bushings:

How to repair window motor bushing - 94/95 cars only

Big thanks to you folks. At the shop, they said the motor was bad, but suggested I could save by buying and installing new one (the guy knows I like to try stuff). Advance Auto had motor for $58.95. They had already told me at shop it would be $70 to install. I bought my #20 1/4 nuts and gave it a try. Thanks to all of you, I spent 36 cents and my time (I work cheap now that I'm pretty much retired), vs. spending $60 - $130. The inside of my window motor looked just like the posted photos with crumbled plastic bushings inside and was repaired just as you all directed.
