84, 5.0, 4V, mechanical fuel pump, won't start. If you put some fuel in the carb it will try to kick but won't stay running so I know I have fire.

New fuel pump and fuel filter. Fuel is coming out of the line at carb, what next? Car did sit for awhile, about 90-days and was fine before that.

Any ideas of easy things to checki?

Dirt in the carb float bowl or float needle valve stuck closed. Either one will require you to remove the carb and rebuild it to do it right. It is too easy to drop something down the throttle bore and into the intake manifold... :(

Thanks... that was what I was hoping was not the case.

How hard is the Holley 4180 to rebuild and then set-up on the vehicle? I have rebuilt simple carbs before, but I thought I heard that the Holley's take a bit more skill to get thge rebuld and set-up right.
