Getting close.. Upper panel welded in, more seam sealer and grinding. I hit the part the windshield rests on with a belt sander.. it seems straight enough. I think I'll hit that with duraglass before I paint it with more Por15. I really hope this stuff holds up as well as "they" say it does long term.

Well, the panel and support brackets are in.. Not taking the car to pebble beach any time soon, but I should be leak free for another 10-20 years lol. I added a couple extra welds to the perimeter of the support brackets because they were a little bent and I was afraid it would take away from the structural integrity of the car. The panels were brushed to bare metal and por 15'ed inside and out then seam sealered, like the rest of the panel throughout the process. I used a can of plasticoat black engine enamel to top coat it, with 5-6 coats inside and out (masking everything else off).

Now I need a windshield... I'll clean up the inner fender area a little, get the dash together and start on the fuel injection next. :flag:

dude, i'm sitting back, sipping a cold one, and waiting for the next update......

just curious as to why you didn't gut the interior first ???

Me too .. I didn't gut the interior because I'm not really doing a complete resto, I just wanted my passengers feet to stop getting wet lol. I thought I would just have to replace the gasket at the top of the heater box and it snowballed into this. I want it to be fast before I worry about paint and the interior. That's a whole new cavern in the money pit :(.

I'm getting together the fuel injection stuff. I still need a new fuel tank, fuel pump, intake manifold (on order), fuel rail (on order), wideband gauge + sensor, fuel pressure regulator + gauge, fuel line and fittings. I'm trying to set something up at school to do the machine work, hopefully I'll start on that next week.

I guess it's been a while since I've posted.. The car will hopefully run, or do something exciting (explode, catch fire etc.) early next week. The fuel system is in, the manifold is all ready to go. I just need to wire everything up (should be done tommorow), do a little tuning, turn the key and pray.

Here's a picture of everything being mocked up last week.
