I just ordered a new AOD Street Smart Package to the tune of 2 grand
Performance Automatic PASS53103 - Performance Automatic Street Smart Transmission Systems - Overview - SummitRacing.com
I need to make sure I get it set up right. It came with a stall converter (2200-2400) and I think it’s going to be just right for my plans for the car as an occasional “driver/cruiser”. It also came with a pressure gauge that is apparently used by a “qualified technician” to set the pressure, so I assume that means after I bolt it up, I’ll have to trailer it to the transmission shop and get it set up.
But I am really concerned about shifting. They say it will work with the stock shifter but how does it shift to the 4th gear…and when?
And I still need to replace the 3rd member with 3.50 or 3.70 gears and Tru Trac…have not decided which ratio will be best. According to this site
Randy's Ring & Pinion. RPM Calculator.
3.70’s will put me at 2000 rpm at 60 mph.
Appreciate any input from someone who has experience running an AOD in their vintage mustang.
