Hey guys, im going to look at a 90 GT tonight, 5 speed. He said the tranny has been redone along with all new gaskets and seals on the engine. Im worried about 2 things.... 1st he said the car doesnt idle right for the 1st few minutes when you start the car (untill it warms up), after that it idles and runs great. He said it was because of a more aggressive cam that was installed. Could that be the cause? He said it doesnt stall or anything, just has a arratic idle untill the car is warm.

2nd - He said the only thing it will need to pass inspection is the floor boards need replaced as they are starting to rust. Thats not too big of a deal as i have friends that do body work, and welding. They said thats no problem.... they DID say that if the floor boards are rusted to check everything else on the car. Frame, tourque blocks, ect. What else should I check for, and how much are new floor pans?

Thanks guys

rust, shock towers, frame rails, under the battery tray. on the hatch where the bottom of the glass meets the flat part is prone to rusting. lower doors and behind all the tires. Where are you from or where is the car from?? salt from snow plays a role too.

PA. Southern PA, so we do get quite a bit of snow.

Any ideas on the aratic idle untill warm? I just talked to him on the phone, and he said the floors are not bad, just some spots need attention and they are still solid. Wouldnt need new ones. He said thats all it needs for inspection (which runs out in 2 months). Of cource im going to check everything out anyways.... now im curious as what the idle problem is, and if its because of the aftermarket cam? Other then that, he said it runs great. Has 160k miles and he pulled the motor and freshened it up with new seals, gaskets, and oil pump, ect. Said he wanted to put $2k into the motor and do a rebuild, and the motor looked great so put it back in and saved the money. He is in college so guess he needs money.

See the "Surging Idle Checklist for help with all your idle/stall problems. Everything you need to find and fix idle problems is in there.

The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes for surging idle/stall problems. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.

Hey Jacob, Havent seen you on here in a while. How is old blue treating you... still in the sig I see.

Hey Jon, how have you been man? Yeah that is a car that I'll never get rid of. I am actually TDY in Charleston SC right now. I took my brother's car and left Old Blue with him because it still has a warranty and I had to drive to Texas before I came here. Anyways I went home the other weekend and he had my car in primer! I don't exactly know what his plans are, but I think he is going to surprise me by painting it.

You should have seen it bro, that car looked killer in primer black! He is a Mustang guy so I know it's in good hands, and he says that it is running great. Anytime that I have ever let him borrow a car it has always come back running better and looking better than when I left it with him. How has your "new" fox been treating you? Hopefully it is running good for you. I'll talk to you later bro, take care!

Jacob

Sorry, I realize this is off topic, but this is what old blue was looking like when I saw it the other week!
