Hey guys....it's been a few years since I posted. I got out of mustangs for a while but bought a 06 GT a few months back. The car came with a Hurst short throw shifter and I got a little frustrated with the notchiness so I swapped it out for an MGW.
When I swapped out the shifter I noticed a constant thump that seems to be in sync with the engine/exhaust. It can also be felt through the e-brake. I reinstalled the shifter twice and finally put the Hurst back in. The noise/vibration is still there with the Hurst, just not nearly as pronounced, which is probably why I never noticed it before.
There is obviously something going on that shouldnt be since I have never heard of anyone else having a similar issue. I have checked the shifter install and been under the car looking for anything that may be out of place. The only thing I noticed was that an exhaust hanger was cut when the previous owner had an FRPP X pipe installed. But I dont know why if that was the issue that I would hear it more with the MGW shifter installed.
Does anyone have any advice on what this could be and how to correct it? I could just leave the Hurst shifter on and try to ignore it, but I feel like there is an issue that needs to be corrected and I don't want to deal with the notchiness of the Hurst anymore. Any help is appreciated since I am at a loss on where to even start.
