Mustang GT, non premium

My initial plan was to get a spoiler delete, base GT with just brembo’s and 3.73 gears. But after I sat in a premium GT I couldn’t help but upgrade, so far I’m really digging all the gadgets and the leather is nice too. If I want to go back to basics I’ll just take my ’91 5.0 LX for a ride. My car fairly loaded was 33K after x-plan and $1250 in incentives.

Why are you regretting the leather I love leather, plus I have to have a leather steering wheel. How do you like the Shaker 500 compared to the G35 Bose system you were looking at?

I love leather, but the "leather" in the mustang is cheap... almost feels like thick vinyl with perforations in it. Not sure what kind of sick cow they got it off of. It looks like the leather in the 401 option is smoother possibly.

The leather that comes with the 401A interior is different from the regular leather interior. It is smoother & much nicer. Feels more like what you'd expect in leather seating. I don't know if there's an actual quality difference or not, but the 401A leather is way better in my opinion.

I think the problem was I wanted to get Saddle in the Kona blue and they didn't have the nicer leather in the 401A option as saddle... Had I known how crappy the leather was, I would have moved away from the saddle.... I just liked the saddle/kona blue combination is all. o well.

My 2010 has the regular black leather seats. They're OK, but the leather in my '99 GT seemed better(don't know if it was actually better or not). I guess it's the rough texture that I don't like. I sat in a car at the dealership that had the 401a seats & noticed how much more I liked them, so I made sure when I ordered my 2011 that I got those. BTW, I ordered a Kona blue as well but with black leather w/grabber blue accent. It's a such a nice color.

Where did you get that $750.00 coupon and I dont think for is giving the $500 from Ford right?

At the time I ordered my car you could go to Fordvehicles.com and order a 2010 or 2011 Mustang brosure and it came with the $750 private offer coupon. This was not available in the downloadable e-brosure.It took about 10 days for it to come in the mail. The $500.00 from Ford was the current offfer at that time. The cost for 3.73 axle was $344.00(x-plan discount)

When I went to Galpin to buy my 2011, the sales guy typed in my name and zip code and found both a $750 and $500 rebate for me. I had no idea that was done. When I bought the wife's Tundra 3 years ago, no such service was offered!!!

I assume that all Ford salesmen can and will provide this service for you. If not prod them!

As per the base, I too thought of going this route. I mean hell what we really want is the motor and transmission. Ok Ok maybe the brembo package has some inherent benefit as well.

Man, I'm so freakin' glad I picked up the premium. The sync/electronics package is amazing. I am listening and enjoying music more now than ever in my car. UPLOAD the songs that you like simply by putting a disc in and selecting tracks. As an old guy that would mean classic rock. So far I have a little over 200 songs in and growing daily. Now I get the whole ipod attraction. And the voice commands....come on!!! Change cabin temp by voice, find destination by voice, play specific songs, artists or genre by voice, check gas prices by voice, tune radio by voice. IT'S FREAKIN AMAZING and consistent as hell.

Beyond that, the interior feels nicer than any Ford has a right to feel. It feels more BMWish than I suspected it could and I for one am enjoying the hell out of it. After all we sit INSIDE the car and we are PAYING for the car. We deserve to be well taken care of. I totally get that it's a high expense and I also considered going base. But my take, for what it's worth, if you can afford the premium with the electronics pack....GET IT. If not, I totally get it and I'm sure you'll love the engine and transmission, they are tight as hell.

I would have to go premium in a new GT also. I kid myself thinking I could so without most or all the bells and whistles. I have owned my 99 GT since new and it was loaded for the day. Leather/best stereo/etc.
