Cleaning engine

I was wondering about cleaning my engine block while its out. Ive got the pistons out is it ok if water and degreeser got in it? Or is this something I need to prevent? Any advice on all parts would be appreciated

if its down to a bare block it won't matter. just make sure to used compressed air on passages and let it dry before putting anything back together.
