ac question...

any one know what hp level the stock or stock replacement radiators are good up to with ac.my car only gets hot when the ac is on it gets rather warmer than id like without it but never gets as hot as with it on.my gauge gets all the way to the L in normal...so its damn hot.thanks for the help...and the fan turns to high when ac is on so its not the fan.

Since you're in Vegas that's not surprising. What flavor of rad to use is your choice, depending upon fabrication skills, budget and so on.

Good luck.

coolant is a 50/50 mix..its new...new hoses, coolant, thermostat, and water pump.i noticed the ac clutch would engage and then disengage 30 sec after engaging..and the clutch would do this the entire time i was using the ac..i use the typical flavor of coolant..brand is peak coolant.

What's the question? You're not rejecting enough heat. If it's triple digits out there, that's not unusual.

I have that same problem. How can you tell if the fan kicks up to high speed when you ac is on? I drive with the windows down and AC off and it cools great, the needle moves a little when sitting at a light. when i get back to the house and it sits in the drive way for a minute or so after driving it and the needle starts moving fast towards the L.
Is the fan louder at the high speed or something like that so i can tell it in high?

listen to the fan when it kicks on for normal cooling..then when the car is cold, and you are just starting the car for the first time of the day turn the ac on and you'll see the difference...it very noticeable.the fan goes immediate to high when the ac is turned on..

yesterday went and looked at the car again and when i started it was in high speed and i had the ac on you could tell by the sound then after a little bit it got quiter but i assume that it went into low speed for some reason even though i still had the ac on. Is that the ccrm dropping out of high speed for some reason?

if i am right, then the fan went to a lower speed because it didn't need to maintain that speed cause it reached the temp the ecm required.if i am wrong some one will chime in.my car does the same thing.

At idle and speeds up to about 45 mph the fan should stay on high speed with the AC on. The low speed fan is commanded by the PCM only when the AC is off and the coolant temp reaches about 220*F and stays on until the coolant temp falls to about 200*F. With the AC off the PCM will turn the high fan on at about 230*F.

14 v on 14 and 17 with ac on and the fan on, it sounds like it slowed down from when it initially turned on. then i was letting it warm up then i heard it get louder again then it sounded like it slowed down. then my probe fell out of one of the wires but on wire 14 it was 13.2v? does this mean anything? heard it slow down and speed up a couple of times. Then the wife reved the engine and it went to high again then after a few seconds of not reving it slowed back down

Pin 17 should have showed continuity to ground when high speed is on.

If both fan speeds are on at once, the fan will run at kind of a middle speed and the system voltage will drop (it's not good for the fan or the electrical system).
