Hey all.. I grew up in the 80s and early 90s when 5.0s pretty much ruled the streets - especially in notchback form.. I'm very intrigued by the 2011 Mustang GT and have been doing lots of reading. I've read that one magazine got a 12.7 in the quarter mile completely stock.. Has anyone else been able to either reproduce this or do any better?

This car seems like an amazing platform to begin with if you like modifying cars...

Thanks in advance...

I had my 5.0 Gt up to 35 MPH today, don"t know how long it took me to get there couldn"t see my watch ,had both hands on the wheel. My car only has 700 miles on it,way to early to tear it up and burn the tires off of it,I am 64 years old the car is fast and I know it,nothing to prove.

I had my GT up to 27 MPH. A new record for me! Don't know how long it took me since my Sun Dial does not work because I did not opt for the glass roof, my hour glass was broke and I was too busy trying to solve a crossword puzzle. I am older than Abraham Linclon, and I have nothing to prove to anybody born after the Civil War

I am sure there are plenty of other 5.0 enthusiasts that can be of more help than the guy with the first reply...

I know it may not be a popular thing on the forums, but I am very interested in seeing some magazines or reviews show what the Automatic runs in the 3.7 and 5.0.

I haven't seen any tests of the 2011's yet with the automatic giving hard data.

hahaha omg I laughed so hard.

Anyways, there's plenty of information on this it's just scattered around different forums. I'd probably look over at s197forum.com, svtperformance.com and look around at livernois and evolution performance. I've seen a few people running high 12's/13.0

A friend of mine took her '11 GT Automatic Coupe to the track 2 weeks ago. Bone stock, traction control turned on (which likely cost a little power), and factory tires. Again, 100% bone stock and only 500 miles on the car. She ran her GT at Pacific Raceways near Seattle, WA. She ran a best of 12.98 @ 110+ in the 1/4 mile. (She also ran a 13.3, 13.1, and a 13.0 before running the 12.98 as she got used to the car and how to launch against the converter). The weather wasn't too bad (mid 70's, sunny, and we're only 250' above sea level).

I believe Evan Smith Editor of Muscle Mustangs magazine was able to crack off a 12.6 bone stock, then followed it up with a 12.36 with a Nitto Drag Radial. Wow! Wonder what the Boss 302 could crank out with the additional hp. and torque?

or look at what EVO was able to do with very minimal mods. They got it into the 11s, with about $500 and some tires.

Not sure where you got your info from but I have an Evo Ix with many many $$ into it and it runs only in the 11's....and trust me it's tuned right by a very renown racing shop and all the mods have been done tastefully and right!

On the other hand I also have a Mustang which is the 5th one I have owned and I can say the only one I have seen with about 500 and some tires was the Terminator. This new platform basically with the cammer block however is going to be such a beast the way it is, personally I would drop in new dished pistons before I tried any real power adders but that's just my .02

In conclusion since I have a tendancy to ramble on...I have not been this excited about a Mustang since I got my 04 Termmy....And now I am ordering the 2011 RTR.

I think he was referring to Evolution Performance, Inc.
