Hi All,

Question, At what point, power wise, does the stock 2011 GT cam become the bottleneck in producing more power, 475HP or there abouts? Just curious as I don't have any plans to change the cam when I get one. Thanks :)

Don't touch a thing. The fact that you're not aware that the 2011 GT has 4-cams and not one tells me that you shouldn't do anything but drive it, put gas in it check the oil once and a while. ;)

On a more serious note...the 5.0L TiVCT is only said to have about an 8% restriction in the top end, so I don't imagine you're going to be stopping it up anytime soon. The fact that nobody make aftermarket cams for the engine yet pretty much throws a wrench into anyone wanting to swap them out anyway.

Not quite sure where your 475hp figure came from, but enthusiasts are seeing that kind of power (SAE NET) from bolt ons alone. You're not likely to see anything like that being put to the rear wheels without the aid of some form of power adder until the aftermarket starts building some "serious" parts for this engine.

It seems to me that the limiting factor after basic bolt ons is going to end up being RPM. The engine is already over 100% efficient through a large portion of the RPM range...once you have an engine flowing that well, it takes either Boost, NOS or more RPM to really get more.

Well, the Boss has less torque than the GT and how often can you spin it up to 7500 on the street? I think the cam is maxed out for reasonable street use, anything more would only show gains racing at the cost of everyday driveability.

Perhaps in a stock profile, but don't all aftermarket cams sacrifice some measure of drivability/efficiency in the quest for more power?

I’m betting once aftermarket parts become more available and cam companies start turning out a few grinds for these engines, 450-500hp 5.0L’s are going to end up being the norm. :nice:

I think we'll see a lot of power and drivability from cams for the new 5.0. With it's ability to dynamically adjust cam timing, I'm sure there is going to be some really trick things coming :D
