Please opine about the shaker hood system

And I never said it was a cost efficient upgrade.

IMO It's the only mod that improves performance (prove to me that the shaker is not a very efficient CAI), improves looks, AND provides the self gratification that the trembling scoop does. It's extremely cost efficient if grins are the required result.

The shaker system is effin beautiful, i was at CDC the other day, and they are the sheet when it comes to customer service, the guy showed me around and showed the shaker system, its well worth it i think, if i had the 99+ id definitely get it. Its a really awesome as far as cosmetics go!!

I love the look of our scoop but hate the fake BS part. What are your opinions about doing the shaker system? I couldn't care less if it didn't help the performance if it was at least functional. It does appear that it is less aggressive, which sucks. Not worried about getting more bang for my buck somewhere else. If it were free to you, would you go to the shaker system or stick with the applique?

If it were free to me, I'd have one on my car yesterday. The shaker hood is, by leaps and bounds, my favorite thing about the Mach 1s. It just looks so badass.

At 80mph the Shaker becomes an actual ram air system. So you figure afew horsepower I guess. Nothing I'd blow $800 over believe me. I don't care how cool it looks. Mine just happen to come from the factory that way. :D

How can you say, "It may offer a few ponies" but in the next breath say, "but it's hardly a gain"? It's either a gain or it's not. Math is black or white (actually red, but whatever)..there is no gray in between. I never said it was a large gain. And I never said it was a cost efficient upgrade.

Oh dont get so fkn technical. It may add 1-3HP @ speed, but to me thats hardly a gain. Get it? Whatever

Please don't start that debate, as a prior owner of both systems I'll say no. However the airflow/pressure whatever does change around that MPH and you get more fresh air than the bubble allows at lower speeds. RAM AIR doesn't exist on our cars.

It seems the discussion has got way off topic. The OP CLEARLY stated he didn't give a rats *** about any power increase. He wants something more "aggressive".

If you have the money to drop on one, I'd say go for it. You'll spend 400 - 500 anyway for a quality hood (non-shaker) anyway. It would certainly increase the fun factor, and looks killer IMO.

Get a hold of Scott Hoag who helped make the Mach 1 a reality and tell him that. He's the one I'm quoting on that from an article I read afew years ago.

You really think the designer/seller of a product is going to tell people that the myth that sells said product is a myth?

Seriously, there have been countless debates and experiments that all conclude the shaker is just a super efficient CAI. There's loads of those debates on this forum alone. I don't want to derail the topic any more. I'm not saying the shaker doesn't do anything, I owned both models on the market and loved both of them.

I like that, but my favorite thing about the current Mach 1s are the wheels. Whenever my budget permits, I'll definitely get a set of Mach 1 wheels, and a Shaker hoodscoop- just for the coolness factor.

I've never heard about any of these debates about the Shaker and I really could'nt care less. Mine came factory stock so I'm not supporting the aftermarket of it. Now tell me their is a debate over the Mach 1 chin spoiler. :rlaugh:

He didnt say, it offers some hp but its no gain. A few (1~3hp) isnt much of a gain. Hardly a contradiction.

Contrary to most, I dislike the shaker system. I don't like the huge bulge in the hood. I prefer the "flat" V6 hood.

I'm looking at buying a Mach 1 and want to know how to remove the whole shaker setup and "unconvert" it to a standard GT setup. What's involved in doing that? Seriously.

I currently drive a Bullitt and the first thing I did was remove the fake scoop and fill the mounting holes. Love the clean look.
