Anyone converted there setup to a carb'd setup? I am getting so damn tired of the computer in my SN95 that I am about ready to pull the top half out the car and just go carb'd. Getting chip's burnt is a pain and its not a daily driver so anyone think its a dumb move and I should just continue to fight with the damn thing to get my stroker setup to stay running right? :(

E-cam is just a really old single grind design. Cars tend to have tuneability problems with them, andit's not very good on the performance.

What cam would you suggest? I am emissions exempt.

Cam selection comes up on this website all the time on this website. I've come to the conclusion that there really is no way I can give you anywhere near as valuable advice that you can get from a cam professional. If you call Comp Cams and speak to a tech there, you're going to get much better advice. They probably have the largest selection of off the shelf cams. Most of the people on this website recommend a custom cam, which is good advice, and only mildly more expensive than buying an off the shelf grind. If you want an off the shelf cam, I would call Comp, and Anderson. Maybe a few other places. I've driven a few cars with a milder head setup than you have, and an e cam. That cam is a dog, and is so outdated.

I went carb, because i went 427. The efi stuff really chokes down airflow on big c.i. I don't think you will have much problem feeding the 331. I would stay stick to the efi if it is a daily driver. Tuning is constant either way, and you will never get it perfect, only close. I had a comp .555 .565 hydro roller in my 347 I really liked. Lots of low end torque yet.

What's the downside of running an E? I don't doubt that there are better cams, but I don't have any driveability issues with mine.

I have a 95 gt with a 331 stroker with a ford X303 cam and had it dyno tuned with a SCT chip. When I picked up the car it was great all issues with the hanging idle and engine cutting off went away and I had more power and torque. But after 2 months the car was cutting off after I would drive it and then turned off the engine and it sat lets say for more than 5 minute and I would go to start it it would die unless I gave it some gas and let it run fast for about a minute or if I would drive it right away and did not have to stop and after about 100 feet in would run and idle just great. I have changed the IAC, TPS, plug wires and check all the sensor, still the car is not running like it did when I picked it up from the tuner. Took out the chip and the car returned to it old self before I got the tune. Put back in chip and hooked up my friends LM1 unit to the car (had a bung put in the o/r x pipe for the wideband 02) and we did some runs set on all 3 tunes at WOT in 3rd gear and the A/F ratio was never less than 14.8 which is way to lean. Finally got ahold of the tuner and he tells me that the tune is good and something else must have gone bad. He said he would take a look at it but it would have to be after the 7th of Sep. I think I will be getting the moates quaterhorse and become a maste of my own tune.:rolleyes:

E-cam was designed for a naturally aspirated, carb'd, 302, with stock heads.

You have a supercharged, fuel injected, 331, with Twisted Wedge heads.

Square peg --> round hole.

Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog (2006) states "On EFI engines performance camshafts work only with mass air induction systems. Will not work with Explorer EEC-V EFI"

To say that they would not work on EFI that is running the mass air induction is false.

Where does it say in my comment that it won't work? Of course it will still run, it just performs like crap, especially in light of modern technology.

If you're going to fight the same tuning issues anyway (you are) then it might as well be for sizeable gain in the end. An e-cam is gonna get you... a lopey idle.
