i recommend going to the track or finding a GT500. anybody with a calculator can see that the gen 3 modded viper is going to beat the 5.0 here.

yep, but there are modded 5.0s out there that can take him on, definitely not stock. 500whp will probably make him a very, very low 11s car, maybe high 10?

just giving a guy in a new 5.0 a chance to live the dream..when I had a camaro or vette I would have given a testicle to run a viper....

As well it gives me a kool video of running one of the new naturally asperated beaste. the supercharged stangs dont impress me as much as the NA ones..i would find little honor in running the GT500....

But the new 5.0's with their 12.7 at 112 mph stock will defiently run low 12's at 117 with bolt ons....yea Ill probally win but isnt it kool that the new NA stangs are so fast???

would love to let someone live the dream as well as me myself running a worthy car..The mustang that finally does the brand justice

Sounds to me like you're more intrerested in adding a kill to your highlight reel than tracking down some healthy competition. Exactly who's "dream" would be you living here? ;)

A modded GT500 would be more evenly matched against your Viper than a GT. Sure its Supercharged but your Viper is also carrying two more cylinders and 2.6L more displacement over the GT500 and a full 3.0L more displacement than a '11 GT.

The new Mustang GT has already proven itself by putting a hurting on both the Challenger and the Camaro (two cars in its class, that are both carrying more than a full liter more displacement), but like with anything, there are going to be limits. Why not hunt around for a "worked over" Ford GT, or a Bugatti Veyron if you're looking for some competition. At least then if you win, you'll have something to be proud of.

Running your a modded $90K Viper against a $35K Mustang and beating it is hardly worth bragging about, don't you think?

I agree with these posts.. it would be like me getting a hard on beating a Geo Metro. Although, I've met Viper owners who can't shift worth *(*% and one of us on our game would easily have a chance.. at least for a second or two. :D

I raced a Viper at Pacific Raceways (1/4 mile drag strip) a couple years ago. It was a late '90's GTS model, IIRC. I killed him off the line (due to his stiff road race suspension) and beat him to the 1/8 mile. Then, he passed me and hit the traps first at a much higher trap speed. I don't even pretend to be able to keep up with a Viper at speed, but from a standing start, it's always interesting.
