With the mufflers so close to the rear of my "new to me" '09 Black GT, I decided to get rid of what appeared from the rear of the car to be two glaring silver eyes. I bought high heat (1,200 degrees) black spray paint often used on outdoor grills. Cleaned the backs of the mufflers, taped and papered (not my strengths), and used the spray paint for two coats. I like the result although photos don't do it as much justice as I hoped. Posting photobucket link to pictures of process here. http://s1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc452/asburydan/MufflerMod/

Looks good. My Magnaflows are second hand. The previous owner had done that to them already. He even took money off the price because they'd been altered. I liked the alteration.

That does look nice :nice: I was just talking to a friend yesterday about doing this to my Magnapacks, I have gone the "black" route on the exterior of my GT and I was thinking about painting the entire muffler and tips black, I've seen a picture of a torch red GT with black muffs and tips...and I thought it looked awesome.

All you did to prep them for paint was wire brush them? Was that grill paint you used flat black?

Thanks for any advice you can give me on this process :)
