If I order 2011 GT premium- what option to get and what can do I myself better?

I've been building '11 GT premiums for days now. I eventually want a pretty well modded 5.0. Probably end up with a blower on it eventually. I've also learned that I can usually save a bunch money buying factory options from the aftermarket and upgrading myself.

I'd want premium 401A 5.0 6 speed.

3.73- yup!

Brembo package- I like it, but what if I just kept it all stock and put a big drilled brake combo on there? Leaning towards ordering it though.

HID's- require security so it's $900. Can't I just buy the OEM HID's myself and bolt them in?

Electronic package- $2600. I can put a Kenwood in the dash with Garmin nav for $1500... but I'm not sure what sync does for you. I'm a tech geek want the latest and greatest in electronics. I like the back up camera and sirius built in. Will probably order it.

Glass roof- looks cool, but heavy and EXPENSIVE. Will probably skip it.

I don't want any add-on exterior stuff, simple and clean is my style.

So- GT premium, 3.73's, brembo, Nav/rear view monitor, and maybe HID's.

Get's me about $40k msrp.

Then what aftermarket stuff? I usually always go intake/exhaust on any new car. Then put some interior LED's in and call it good.

I faced the same decisions last June.

I want to build a street touring machine. I enjoy a 1500 mile trip three times a year. For running the turnpikes I need a car that is lo profile, no flashy colors or noise but scoups and wings are ok. I'll add a few specific parts. I ordered the CS valance, and a corsa exhaust. Looking at wheels but the brakes are the issue.
On July 16th I ordered:
5.0 GT premium coupe manual ,Brembo, ingot silver 401A Brick interior, glass roof, 3.55, comfort pkg.
pkg 5
Probably a few more weeks

3.73- yup! Nice if you want to mod.
Brembo package- I like it, but what if I just kept it all stock and put a big drilled brake combo on there? Leaning towards ordering it though. This package including the upgraded rims is a REAL VALUE for what you get. Those brakes are FINE for even a well upgraded machine. I am pissed that ford wont let me get this with auto.
HID's- require security so it's $900. Can't I just buy the OEM HID's myself and bolt them in? The security package is an ACTIVE alarm and will save you money in insurance, so IMO, worth buying if you want the HID. The factory HID has a nice clean look, probably better to get them now WITH the active alarm and wheel locks.

I like the back up camera and sirius built in. Will probably order it. WASTE OF MONEY...You get Sync with premium package already, you get Sirius radio too, just not free usage, but built in to radio. You also get AUDIO nav, just not video. You can DEFINITELY go to a reputible after market place and customize an In dash system. IMO, $2400 for a large touch screen is :bs:
Glass roof- looks cool, but heavy and EXPENSIVE. Will probably skip it. SKIP

I put my comments in there... just so you know..I ordered an Auto with CS package, so my recommendations are not based on "copying me' they are based on practicality and ease/difficulty on later mods. I wanted the CS because I want my car to look different from the rest. the CS in Silver is truly unique (havent seen any yet ).

I know the options inside and out, so any other questions, give me a shot out.

+1 agree, couldn't have said it better.

as far as blowers go,you can get 2 different supercharger packages through the dealer, one is for 550hp and the other is 625hp or around there.with the 550 hp you get the warranty, the other one you don't.i just heard about this offering through ford racing last week.

A few things I learned/considered

Brembo Brake Package... if you don't like the factory wheels and you like the Brembo wheels, then get it, that right there justifies the price especially if you wanted to upgrade the brakes anyways. Plus that is an AWESOME deal for Brembo brakes and wheels anyways.

Electronics Package... I did not get this option and personally I don't miss it. I'm a geek as well and the 401a package still gives you sync like mentioned, so you still get stuff to play with. However, the electronics package lets you download CD's to a hard drive in the car, so it can be worth it if you're into that sort of thing. Personally I don't like having the screen, it's too much to play with while driving and too bright. The screen in my brothers BMW always stays light up and I hate that.

Glass roof... really really cool, I heard it's actually not that much heavier than you think. I didn't want all that light coming into my car fading my interior and heating it up.

Security Package... comes with the locking nuts for your wheels and the active alarm system. I went ahead and grabbed it for the hell of it and I didn't even get HIDs. Like it was mentioned, having an active alarm system lowers your insurance.

HIDs... if you like them get them. Personally I didn't like the way they looked and I don't care for blinding people

3.73s... have them in mine and they are perfect however the best MPG I've seen is about 20mpg with a lot of highway and a little city. I'm up to 2200 miles

Comfort Package... I actually did go ahead and get this option though you did not mention it. The reason I bring it up is that I got it for the luxury of it. It's really really nice when a passenger gets in your car and gets to use the powered adjustment controls for the seat. Plus when winter rolls around I'm excited that my ass will be warm

As far as aftermarket mods.. the must do's would be lowering springs, adjustable panhard bar, steeda cai, exhaust, and a tune
