One thing to keep in mind is .........
those cams were built to crutch up the piss poor e ports of OEM heads
therefore
It would seem to me that ...........
e cam would be more suited to be used with E7's than a TFS 1 cam that
was built for heads that do not have the same short comming as
old OEM iron heads
There old single grind cams. They were designed to give old SBFs that classic grumbling noise. I'd also like to add that a .542 lift cam is likely to have piston to valve clearance issues without notching the pistons.
Agree. If you have poor-flowing heads there's no point in having a big cam. Actually you could transplant higher-flowing heads onto the 5.0 and it would perform very well with the stock cam and 1.7 RRs.
Thanks for the info... was curious myself. I had been kicking around the idea of e303 for my E7's, but I think I am just going to leave the vert alone in that dept. If anything I do like the idea of the 1.7's. Would the rockers upgrade be noticable in terms of hp gain, or minimal?
My current setup:
3.73's
Cobra upper / .5" spacer / lower
70mm TB
Cold air
Shorty headers
Pro Chamber
Pro Dumps
10 rwhp isn't bad considering it's a 1 hour swap, and the rockers are something you're going to need eventually anyway. A cat back is only like 10rwhp, and that takes half a day to install, and costs twice as much.
The gain is more like 5rwhp but 1.7 rockers are still worth it. They're easy to install and you can still use them if you upgrade to better pedestal-mount heads and upgrade the cam later on.
