Mach 460 upgrades???

Considering how many "CD Error" threads there have been over the years, you may want to seriously consider starting with a new head unit, and go from there. I think there are a couple that, with the right harness, will plug into the stock system and provide improved sound, along with mp3 capability.

I have had cd error messages over the years and simply put up with them. If I ever upgrade my stereo system, I'll do as described above.

I took every stereo component out of my car, and completely replaced them. New amp, new speakers, new head unit. New sub.. And ran new wires to the speakers. Sounds a million times better than the old one.

Yep, I can't wait to replace everything in mine. For now, I installed an MTX mono amp w/ a form fitting box. Hopefully soon I can get a nice 4 channel amp, an LCD 2 din player, and some component speakers so I can ditch the lame Mach 460 stuff.

I'd say scrap the factory system.:notnice: I removed all stock stereo equipment and started from scratch. :nice: I got the stereo from crutchfield. They give you lot's of free stuff to make the stereo install easier. I knew what I wanted for everything else, so I looked all over the net and went with the best price on the speakers amps etc. For the regular speakers, I ran all new speaker wire, and I went with JBL's and their 4 ch amp, and custom mustang dual 10" Kicker Kicker mono amp. Total cost only $750, saved a bunch in labor :spot: Sounds soooooo much better than the mach 460.:hail2:

Like everyone else above said, if your gonna change anything change it all. Start with the headunit and if your really concerned with sound quality and how loud it is, look for a 4 volt pre-amp output as most of them have 1.8 or 2 something I believe. Eclipse used to be the best for this but they have since gone back to doing factory stuff since they can make more money and its also guaranteed money. After that if you like bass then do a mono block with sub(s) or if your thing is quality music then go with the 4 channel and great mids. Dynamat if you want to take it over the top in my opinion..
