There's a local forum (99% of which are Honda owners) that I troll occasionally. This was posted over the weekend and the people there are going crazy over it. In fact, multiple people have already ordered this thing.....

Did anyone watch the video?!!? Chit starts flying all around when they "engage the supercharger" while the car is off. My money is on the engine having some failure albeit probably not catastrophic as it is going to have plastic and metal shavings in it after that debacle...

An electric supercharger is perfectly reasonable and good way to boost performance... just not on a 12v system.

So let them have their fun and waste some money. I think it is quite funny and will laugh even more when it all goes wrong. Besides, even a REAL 30hp on a 130hp car still gives you pathetic performance.

An electric supercharger actually could provide a nicely packaged boost in power if done correctly. But you'll need significantly more power... think 5hp electric motor for a mild 4cylinder and that will certainly require more battery capacity and available voltage.

The eight electric superchargers I run inline give me quite a bit more power actually. Its almost enough power to make up for the 5kw trailer mounted generator I have to tow behind to run them, almost.

The turbulence in a 4 cylinder engine is super strong (let alone a v-8), not sure how someone w/a little bit knowledge of engines would think that fan would improve dyno-numbers. If anything, the fan would restrict the flow of air, plus it looks like the fan would break and end up in your intake.
People have fail to succeed so, live and learn.

:rlaugh:

When I was in the Army my buddy that played on my paintball team came up to me one day sooo excited to put a supercharger on his Saturn Ion. I go outside and it was that same exact kit haha Was really simple to hook up. He said it felt faster, and then like a week later it fell off hahahaa

"This switch can be ran inside through the firewall so that way you can IGNITE the supercharger" bwahahaha

25-30hp huh? I should have bought one of those instead of longtubes :)

"Ignite the supercharger"...he would have been better off if he did actually ignite it and the car along with it. How funny would it be if he installed it backwards...??!! HAHA!! And by "5 pounds" does he mean 5 pounds total or 5 pounds above the additional 14.7 pounds needed to change a N/A engine to a forced induction engine?
