Watch out Europe... here comes the new 5.0 (M3 vs 5.0)

Had my 330 not been such a complete disaster, I would have bought an M3 this time. When it became clear they build garbage, I considered a 997. Business has been off so I was hesitant to spend that much money (and people get bent when they see a Porsche in the parking lot). So I was looking around at anything and everything. I bought the 5.0 and I have no regrets. Better still, I no longer own the biggest POS on the road! Bye bye BMW - you'll never get my money again. Even if this Ford dies tomorrow.

My God I hate BMWs. Always liked them until I owned one. Most miserable automotive ownership experience of my life. Absolute garbage car.

I've had the exact opposite experience. I've owned my 2001 BMW 330i for 10 years. Bought it new in 2000 and it has been the most long-term pleasurable car that I have ever driven. It does everything I've ever asked of it and it always fun yet has the manners to be very civilized. Aside from a sensor or two, regular (religious) maintenance has been it. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with yours but someone can say that about ANY car or ANY manufacturer...

That being said, and back to on-topic, I think it's FANTASTIC the new Mustang is hanging with what I consider the cream of the crop as far as daily-driven performance cars (ie. BMW M3). I hope to be ordering my new 5.0L in the Spring.

It's interesting seeing BMW owners on a Mustang forum trying to prove how great the BMW's are. As a Mustang enthusiast, I've never had any interest in looking or posting on a BMW forum. I've driven in them, they really don't impress me.

Notice that nearly every BMW owner that's posted here - if not all - either currently own or have owned a Mustang. I actually don't post on BMW forums, or even look at them. I love Mustangs and always have, which is why I still come around here.

The plain-Jane 328s don't impress me either, but then again there's no reason to be comparing them to Mustangs either. The 335's are alright, and the M3's are just out of this world. If I had the garage space, I'd have my M3 sedan and a new 5.0 or GT500.
