Need advice on high hp clutch

Kurt, interesting info about PM... I agree Bob and Linda are great people, I buy my trans parts from him and he has given me great info and tips over the years.

SPEC also offers a nice alum pressure plate that cuts a good bit of weight out ;)

I've also had outstanding experiences with Hanlon. In my experience, he treats people like they're the only customer of the day. Very polite, informative and unrushed.

Rick, is Perky still in the game? He'd sent me a PM about SPEC stuff a long time ago. Haven't seen him in forever.

Unlike many of these guys, I've run a lot of DF Centerforce clutches as opposed to the Spec. I'll just say that my setup makes a LOT of torque. It's a great clutch and I've bought them 3 times in a row. I am however, in the market for something better on the next go around. As engine power levels have been going up and up, I've noticed that the DF-CF has been showing its weaknesses. During a full boost 4th gear pull, I can make it slip. Frequently enough that I'd bet money being able to do it. hehe

Moral: High torque applications will likely require something with more holding power than the Centerforce. Those counterweights don't do anything from a dig.

I'll be looking hard at the Spec 3+ for my next clutch.

At 450 ft/lbs the DF would probably hold you just fine. Who in this forum can leave well enough alone though?

Yeah, Linda cracks me up everytime I call. She really knows her stuff, and doesn't waste any time beating around the bush. I buy most of my tranny parts from a local Tremec dealer though. I go through Hanlon if I need specialty parts.

My standard SPEC 3 held up just fine, and I was putting down 630 ft lbs of torque to the wheels on my last setup. I finally ended up snapping the input shaft off the transmission. I upgraded to a 26 spline input shaft and went to a 4+.

I bought an act clutch FM4-HDSS - ACT Heavy-Duty Clutch Kits because it was suggested by a ford mechanic.I only have 100 miles on it so far but the clutch feel is lighter then the king cobra was. Also the king cobra clutch was still good when it was pulled from the car.So I was over powering the clutch at the top of the rpms. After I get this clutch broken in I plan to take it to the track and get my rwhp numbers and post another review on this clutch. And eventually when this one goes out or I start over powering it I'll try the spec3.
