im wanting to do a few things to my mustang this winter, im sure some of you have seen my posts about the brake upgrades im doing and i thank you all very much for the help this far. so what im wanting to do is put a cam in to give it a more agressive sound, nothing too wild as it is not a racer...
i have been told by some that the e cam is the way to go! so what i need to know is... can i just install this cam, no need to change anything else, or is that not the case? thanks again in advance!

If all you want is good sound, go for it - just install it dot to dot. Depending on the mileage of your motor, I'd replace the springs...and no matter what, I'd check piston to value clearance.

If later on you figure out you wanted more power, you'll regret the choice as it's not the best out there.

Ask me how I know.

Good luck...

all i want is the sound...not really a performance car, its just for shows. motor is from a 93, top end was rebuilt less then 1500 miles ago... car has only seen maybe 200 miles in the last 2 years, so...

anyway, how do you know?! lol

If you want some sound, you may be able to use a combination of 1.6 and 1.7 rockers to achieve that, with about 80% less work, and no valve spring change change. Do some searches on staggered rockers.

The cam alone is not worth the trouble.

Typhoon is an edelbrock knock off which is a very good intake. GT40p heads are just fine if you get them for a good price. They came on the 5.0 explorers so they are plentiful. Bang for the buck they are going to be hard to beat. When I do an upgrade I personally like to lighten the front end too... With AL heads you are taking 50 lbs off the front tires. Better handling and for every 100 lbs, you are taking close to 1/10th off a 1/4 mile. That said it is going to cost you money... Not sure what rockers you are considering but also factor in that cost too. Shaft vs pedistal mounted...
To answer your question. The Typhoon, e303 and gt40p heads will compliment each other just fine. The intake is the largest restriction on the HO motor. Next is the heads. Usually the stock cam is just at home with everything up to changing out the heads. When you are that deep into the block you might as well change the cam too.

sounds like a plan, im looking at a set of re-man gt40p's for 365 i think. this is the info they guy is giving me...
Up for sale is a set,of assembled GT40- P heads. These heads have no miles on them, remaufactured this month also with new valve springs good for 500 lift cams!!!! They bolt on to any 5.0 (302) and are a great horsepower upgrade! 45 HP!!!!! The Gt40p heads are found on late model 5.0s(96' +) Explorers, they make great streetable power. These have a revised port design and plug angle which allow them to Outflow the older gt40 head (and pretty much every factory iron head) .They come as pictured (assembled with valves/springs/rockers) . These heads are the best flowing 5.0 heads ever produced by Ford! They are a direct bolt on for all 5.0s. They will even work on the 5.8, but you will have to drill out the head bolt holes to 1/2". These heads will bolt right on your Rod or mustang. ***** NOW USING STAINLESS FREEZE PLUGS ****** BETTER THAN BRASS Following Information Taken From CarCraft Magazine on GT40P Heads.. GT40P Head Data: Valve Size: 1.84 intake 1.46 exhaust Chamber Volume: 59 cc Intake Runner volume: 145 cc Valve Spring (seat) 90 lbs @ 2.00 Valve Spring (@ .500 lift) 310 lbs @ 1.500 Valve Spring (coil-bind) 1.300 Retainer To Seat Contact 0.75 intake/ 0.77 exhaust Ex/Intake Flow Ratio 66.8 @ 5.00 lift Max Power (theoretical) 398 HP @ 5.00 lift 59 cc head raises compression about 0.6 point
