Frustrated with Mach 1 Grille Delete

Hey guys, I recently tried installing my 3 peice mach 1 grill delete kit. Everything was going fine intalled rear piece no problem, then when I bolted down the front fascia piece thru the original holes in the bumper everything still was pretty good. I then went to put the push pins in the top corners that connect the trim piece to the bumper and the passengers side worked and looks great, but the drivers side was way off and when I shoved it over and got it to line up and put the push pin back in, now there is a freaking huge 1/2" wide gap on the drivers side between the trim piece and the front bumper. What's the deal? Supposed to be oe piece which has the studs on the bottom that line up and go thru factory holes in bumper but appears as if the panel is like 1/2" too narrow? Any one else with this problem?

Thanks,

P.S. Also the pony that came in the kit is very crooked and the horse runs down hill when installed on the car...very upset about this as well, but ordered a new horse from american muscle and hope it will be better than the one I got elsewhere...

I got the kit from blue oval industries. I bought it over a month ago and just now had the opportunity to install it. So returning it is probably not going to be an option since it has been so long. I am going to try to unbolt the studs that stick down thru the bumper and see if that helps? Bought some double sided tape as well, but 1/2" gap there is no way that even double sided tape will help that situation out. Along the bottom and front edge it fits down tight and looks nice even on the passengers side going up it looks and fits tight...just the drivers side right where the curve starts it picks up and is a huge gap all the way up the side til it gets towards the top where the push pin is inserted.

Is there a possiblity that I recieved the wrong panel? Like one to fit a cobra bumper or something? Didn't know if that might be the case or not? Cause if it is I can go to ford and pick up the 3R3Z-17B814-AAA trim panel for like 32 bucks which is the factory installed panel on the mach 1. Or would that be too narrow as well?

Thanks,
Dan

Wish I could but don't know how to post pics on here. It is like it is 1/2" to narrow left to right....like there needs to be another 1/2" added to the center of the panel to make it wider left to right. Cause when I bend the top over to line up with the hole to put the push pin thru that hold the bumper to the core support as well...it is way far away like the panel is way too short. The bumper is the factory bumper...car has never had anything done to it...bought it new in October of 2000 (2001 model year) and only has 8,800 miles on the car....so bumper is like brand freaking new!

I got mine from Dallas Mustang and didn't have any problems with it  I wonder how all of these other people have such good looking pieces though and seem to fit perfect when mine just doesn't look how I want it snug to the bumper..

We really need to see some pics to be able to help. I got mine from Am and it fit perfect. I was gonna say you had a screwed up bumper until you said you were the original owner. Maybe if you could post the measurements of the actual piece? PM me if you want me to post your pics for you.

It sounds like the piece is poorly made. You probably should try to return it. For future reference, know that Blue Oval has a bad reputation. I won't buy anything from them.

I forgot who I bought my three-piece kit from (many years ago), but it fit perfectly, and installation was relatively easy.

Thanks guys, Yeah I ordered a new horse from AM and got it in the mail yesterday and it looked totally different from the one I recieved from Blue Oval. The one from AM had a different looking bracket and the horse was good and straight. I emailed blue oval and since I bought the kit back in August and just now last weekend got an opportunity to install it there was nothing they would do since it was past the 30 day return period. Which I expected. I also asked him if it was actually factory ford pieces and he said yes he got everything from a local ford vendor. I really don't believe that now that I recieved the horse from AM and it came in a Ford box and all and it looked totally different from the one they sent me. I think I am going to order another piece from my local ford dealer and see if it works better. They are only 34 bucks directly from ford. Sorry I can't post pics right now cause just came to hospital with wife last night and we had our 3rd baby girl...so gonna be here for a few days now.

Dan

Congrats on your new baby girl!!!!

As for Blue Oval Industries, stay far away from them. I was looking to get some stuff from there last year, but did some research before I did. Good thing because I found LOTS of complaints against them. :notnice:

prior to ordering a set of headlights from them, i spoke to one of their reps. while very nice, they assured me how well they would fit....just like stock. yea right....not even close. i guess i dont personally have anything against them but was pretty disappointed how much confidence they gave me and the results i got.

x2 on the congrats.

Thanks for the good wishes...day two in hospital and my back is killing me sleeping in the hospital chairs...haha. Well I am gonna order a new trim piece from ford and will post back up here once I get everything in and reinstalled. Guess I won't be ordering from them again....thanks again...

I had the same issue on my 04, not as bad though.
To make it fit tighter down on both sides.
First remove both headlights, take a drill and wallow out the top holes....
not the holes on the grill, the holes on the car itself. wallow out the holes
toward the center of the radiator. Then use bolts with nuts and washers
Tighten them down on the most inner position.Dont over tighten one side
or the other until it looks the same on both sides. Worked for me.

Congratulations on the newborn!

Is there a chance your GT has ever been in an accident? Just wondering because it may be the angle of the picture, but it looks like the bumper on the passenger side is tucked up higher to the hood-line than on the driver's side. It could easily be the picture, but if that was the case that would be a reason why it didn't line up.

If it's just Blue Oval's quality then that sucks, another non-satisfied customer.
