hello all,

i have a 1968 Mustang coupe that needs both door skins replaced. they are not rusty, just wavy.

can anyone suggest a source for the door skins and or information on how to do this task, tools needed advice and so on?

i am going to do all of the work myself ;)

i ordered 2 new door skins and they were so bad the body guy said send them back as what was on the car was better to work with. It was a lot of labor, he had to remove them and reinstall them, but it was the right move in the end.

I ordered both skins for my 69 from NPD. Both were very nice, fit well and matched the two main body lines across the quarters and fenders. Both skins need a little massaging on the upper front corner to match the upper line of the fender though. The line matched up, but the shape above the line did not flare correctly. All in all I was pretty happy with them.

Heres a suggestion, but I had a hole rusted in the corner of my door skin, the body shop was going to charge me 300 bucks to cut out the spot, weld in new and fix the entire door. For 330 bucks I bought a whole new Dynacorn door shell and bolted it on myself, looks great and its a brand new door, dont have to worry about rust anymore. I know most body shops charge at least 60 bucks an hour for labor, so just a thought for you there.

This is a repro door:
