Skip shift almost killed me this week.

So I pull out into traffic slow because it was raining and just as I clutch to shift a truck I didn't see comes over the hill like man-o-war. Unfortunately, skip shift had kicked in. I tried for second, but no dice. So there I was, rolling dead in the water:eek:, the best I could do was jam it into 3rd, then back to second and finally get moving as best I could on the wet road. It probably wasn't very long, but with a logging truck bearing down on you it seemed like an eternity. The Ironic part is that in the thousand miles I've driven the car, this is only the second time skip shift has engaged other than when I was trying to get it to.

I drive a standard because I want to be in control of the car, not vice-versa.

This "feature" will go if I have to tear into the tranny to do it. Dumbest idea ever.

I got the window louvers as part of trim package 5 when I ordered the car. Can't say that I ever really like them.

I'm not into race replica but more grand touring style.
Ford mounted them with 3M / velcro on the glass. Good idea if you like to clean bedind them.

Now I'm looking at that fake hood scoup. I always wanted a hot rod with a hood scoup...but a functional one.

add more stuff to the take off pile.

Happy modding.

Tuning is the only way to eliminate that annoying skip shift. If you decide to go with the tuning, not only will it take care of the skip shift, but the performance is fa nominal. We see gains of around 30 rwhp, just from the tunes, here @ Steeda, and we have got 44 additional rwhp out of both of our 5.0's with a combo CAI and tune. Just call and ask for Todd, I will get you taken care of.

I'll take you up on that in the spring. :nice: Just blew the budget on winter tires & wheels.

The automatic doesn't have the skip shift, but it does shift through the gears rather quickly. In my opinion the automatic cars benefit the most from the tuning. A tuner has the capabilities of changing shift points and shift pressures while creating the tunes. For most automatic mustang owners that recieve a tune, what was 30-35 hp it feels more like 50-60 hp, do to the new shifting and increased throttle response. It doesn't shift firm all the time, just when you have your foot in it. There is such a difference that when it shifts in to third, it will actually blow the tires off, not just chirp the tires, but a full tire roasting.

There is information that you can just unplug the skip-shift at the top of the tranny. It will not give any codes.

Not sure if linking to another forum is allowed here but do a search over at
