Update, first time down the track

Well its been awhile since I updated anything. I last posted that my engine made 454 hp and 431 tq, but hadn't finished the car yet.

Anywho, sunday night I made three passes in her finally!

12.01 @ 115 with a 1.82 60ft

12.01 @ 114.8 with a 1.81 60ft (spun coming off the line)

11.83 @ 115.5!!! with a 1.75 60ft

I know theres a bit left in her, i trapped 93 mph at the 1/8 mile and only 115 on the big end.

I think I'm gonna swap the 4.11's for some 3.90s and see what that will do.

What do yall think?

Looks good to me, probably some left in it off the starting line though, should be in the 1.6's with DR tires. Are you way over rpm wise on the big end or something? 22mph gain on the top end isn't that far off.

Gears or a tire size change might help out. You are running about the same horsepower and times I was running in my camaro, but like Blown says i was averaging 1.5-1.6 60 fts, i had a 3500 stall and 28x9x15 slicks and 4.11 gears, 1/8th times were in the 7.60's, 1/4 11.90's. I changed to 26" tall slicks and that hurt my 60ft but I picked up a few mph on the other end, but it slowed me up an entire 10th. I know every car is different though.

26" with his gears would be about 6500rpm across the stripe. 70 stang I would think would fit 28" though so that should be about 6100 across the line with the 4.11's.

Your results make sense though and that's why the gears or top end isn't going to be hurting an ET all that much since most of your ET is the beginning not the end. Get that car off the line and in the 1.6's and you be running close to 11.50's. Put taller tires on it if you can fit them and gain on both ends of the track. 275/60/15's :)

Just work on the first 60 feet for now. It should be in the 1.6's. Just look at how much you improved from the 1st to 3rd run by lowering your 60 foot by
.07 sec. All with the same mph.

And 22 mph on the 2nd half of the track is just fine. Mine is usually about 21
(95 1/8 and 116 1/4.)

Is it flat hooking from the line or spinning any? Or do you have to baby it out of the hole? I have always had to baby mine out so I must fix that to improve.

Very nice first time to the track for sure!!:nice:

I got goose bumps that first 1.54 60' i pulled, like tony the tiger, it felt GRRRRREAT! Get that bad boy to stick, get the tallest widest tire you can fit under there and roast those bad boys. I would smoke my tires, then back up and give it a good hard launch just to make sure. I'm excited for ya :nice:

Yeah I agree there's a lot left in the 60ft. I'd be happy to be down in the 1.5xs. I've got cal-tracs, mono-leafs and rancho shocks out back. The driver mod is going to be my best bet for now =P

It was my first time running an auto down the track, and it was pretty fun to be honest, kinda felt like cheating though lol.

The car only really spun the second time, after it had already launched and I was about to shift to second.

My transmission guy told me to not stall it up much, and just flash it on green. So we'll see?

I haven't played with shock settings yet either, the ranchos are set at 5, and my front shocks I honestly can't remember (out of the box, whatever they were set at?) and we had tire pressure at 14psi.

I left the swaybar off when we installed the MII kit =P

I'm wondering too if I pull the converter out and have them redo it for 3500 from 3000 if it will help the launch much.

But overall I'm impressed with it, seing as its a stock shortblock 351w.

Now my wife wants to run her shelby against me, but she has no idea that I'm gonna spank her butt!
