Hey all, need a chute for the track next year and started looking around. There are a few options I saw out there and was wondering if anyone has experience with them and if there is a good better best?

Thanks for any assistance!

I've made quite a few, what style are you looking for? Do you want a bolt on set-up are are you looking to have it tie into a existing cage? Do you want something that you can remove for the street? Do you run an alum race wing or plan to?

The Stroud Chute is the easiest to pack :nice:

Let me know if I can help

Rick,
Thanks for getting back to me. At the moment no aluminum wing, just the stock GT bumber cover and stock wing. The goal all along has been a sleeper style so I was looking to do removeable. I am just above the 150mph mark in the 1/4 so I think for now a bolt on would be sufficient.

I appreciate the info on the stroud chute, I was looking at those and they appear to be the one I will go with. Just a single for now.

I do have a cage in the car, weld in S&W 8 point, however I am converting it this winter with the 10 point addition.

I did read somewhere that the bolt on makes the bumper cover not as stable. Not sure what to make of that.

Does this sound about right for the current combination?

Thanks

Shane

Ive made quite a few set-ups like the Wolfe piece with no issues, cut a hole in the bumper so nothing sticks out, just have to bolt it together from behind the cover when you need it. Once you take the factory supports out when using a GT cover it is unstable, but I see no reason new supports couldnt be added so you still connect to the bottom of the cover for stability. Id add a wing it does wonders at that speed.

the wing makes that much difference? is it aerodynamic or down force difference or both?

How much to make the mount? or can you provide details to build it myself? I was thinking of trying it myself but couldn't really get enough information as to what kind of strength to build into it. Specs seemed a little vague. I remember seeing something about the link is supposed to be on drive shaft center line, or axle center line.
Thanks again.

Shane

thats the truth! and if you have the correct type of drill you can use that to pull in the launcher spring

here is a few pictures of how rhodes mounted the stroud shute on the race car

thats cool. Is that the stroud mounting bracket as well? I have seen some that where less involved, didn't seem to have the bracing between the top of the chute mount and the body at the license plate area. just had the disconnect thru the lower bumper cover. I also like the placement of the battery disconntect, I have to put that on this winter as well and was trying to figure out where to run it thru the body with a parachute mount.:)

not a clue they redid the chassis and the cage all at the same time to a 25.2/5 spec (need to add tubular subfames to go 25.2 all bars to 25.2 spec other then them) along with lexan windows and machined the wheels for screws

If you still intend to street drive the car I steer away from that style mount due to the license plate...

I put the battery disconnect in the same spot, and just drill through the license plate on street car ;) Youll have a small hole for the chute cable as well.

Whats your email I'll shoot you some pricing...I assume youll need the cable mounted and welded to your cage as well, no big deal for me.

i can see where it would be a pain for a street car but if you unbolt it from behind the bumper and pull the pins out of the top it would be ok.

Rick,
email is [email protected]. Pricing would be great. Yes I do have to mount the cable as well, hadn't really thought about that part!

It will be a street drivin car, however I only put maybe 1000 miles on a year, street cruises and once in a while to work and back when the weather is nice.

Thanks again for all the input everyone!
