Heater Hose/Tube Question

I have a '98 4.6L SVT engine in my Panoz Roadster and I'm gutting the A/C - Heater unit and replacing it with a Vintage Air Heater only.

I am looking at the heater hoses and am told that the supply hose into the heater should be the one that is connected to the tube that runs under the intake manifold. Does anyone know where this connects back into the engine? If it connects into the water pump, does the water pump force coolant through this tube or suck the coolant into the water pump assembly?

If it draws coolant from the heater hose, then I'm thinking that that hose should be the return hose from the heater.

Thanks for any help here!

The heater hose running to the back of the water pump is a return line.

Think about it. How does a centripetal pump work? The fluid flows from the center out. So a line attached the center has to be a return line.

Further, the heater core supply line would come from the top of the engine where the water is the hottest.

Here it is.
