I remember a previous posting on this subject, and the guy used a socket, that was just a bit smaller than the locking lug, and pounded it on, with a hammer. I know that it sounds a bit severe, but i think that it would work, and then put the locking lug in a vise, to remove the pounded on socket, so that you can re-use it. After you have destroyed the socket, you can always return it to Sears or Autozone etc. lol!!

I did this just the other day..It was a pain in the ass but I got them off.:D

What kind of locking lug is it? When this happened to me, I took it to the local Ford dealership and they had a master key set, and was able to match my lock and remove them right there. No charge.

I've tried the socket method before, and ended up just scratching up the finish on my wheel. Never was successful in getting the locking lug off that way.

Pounding on an undersized socket is how the thieves do it. I lost my key but found it in the yard with a magnet and a metal detector. I took all the locking lugs off and threw them away.

I had to get a local shop to get a locking lug off my Cobra. Sucker was seized in there bad. Previous owner broke two keys trying to get it off, I bought a new key a broke it also. The guy at the shop banged up my wheel, but I was happy to have it off. I removed all the other keys and just run regular lugs. Most thieves will just steal the whole car if they can't get the wheels off.

I will never have locking lugs, from the side of a mechanic i know how annoying it is to start working on a car raise it up and find out they have locking lugs so you have to drop the car back and tear through the car hoping to find it. Plus if a thief actually wants your wheels, i promise you he will get them...basically use normal lug nuts and you never have this problem :D

i got em from kragen about 3-4 years ago. the brand is mr. lugnut. the dealership can take em off even though i didnt purchase the locks from ford? ill try to find a place, but everything is closed today cause of new years, but if nothing then i guess im going to have a couple of scratches on the cobras, once there off im going to throw away those dam locks!:D

If you have a # and it's McGard locks, contact them. I had the same issue last year. Being the "anal wonder" that I am with keeping records, I called them with my number and had two shipped.
Good Luck!

i got mine at kragen, theyre the mr lugnut ones.. but ill try to see if they can make it for mine. is there is kit that takes em off by any chance?

They make some kits to take them off (ATD Tools 3050 9 pc. Locking LUGNUT Remover Kit $40.00) google is your friend. I paid pepboys $20 a while back to get the locking lugs off a Dakota PU. They did not scratch the wheels.
