Alright guys I had to replace my radiator because it was leaking. I am slowly building another motor for this car so I decided to upgrade the whole cooling system. alright so here is my setup, mishimoto radiator, mishimoto radiator mounts, silicone hoses, 180 thermostat, flowcooler high flow water pump, and new over flow tank. my issue I am having is when I put the fan in, the water pump pulley bolts hit the back of the fan motor. Anyone have this issue or do you guys know of any other after market fan with a shroud other than the mishimoto $200 fans?

Here is a picture of what is hitting. Its the part plugged into the fan, I have no idea what it is. All I know of it is that some cars have it and some don't.

There was a recall around year 2000 dealing with a radiator fan bearing failure and subsequent overheating of the fan motor and connector. The fix was IIRC to install a circuit breaker at the fan connector to lessen the likelihood of a fire due to an excessive electrical overload .

mishimoto has such a bad rap..mine leaked from day 1..i thought it might have been the overflow bottle or a bolt loose...i didn't want to believe that this cool looking new radiator would be leaking ......but yep its the culprit. just some cheap Chinese crap.

i totally disagree with Red dragon.. I've had a Mishimoto in my stang for almost a year now and have never once had issues with it (other than installing it because I was a newb). but when i had issues installing it I called Mishimoto directly and talked to a guy named Pat that was able to walk me through everything and totally helped me out. plus now that it's in i love the thing!! my engine temps are lower, and she makes it down the track every single time. :D no better buy for the buck.

i dont know about that BurninRubb3r..im not the only guy on the web that has issues with mishimoto...several other guys on modded mustang,sn95forums,and a couple other sites report the same thing...and they go on to say they have sent the radiator back 2 and 3 times to have it come back to just leak again.just trying to save some of our fellow stangers some of their hard earned money...if you want to upgrade your radiator there are a couple better options..griffin,03-04 cobra radiator, fluidyne and i hear the bcool is a nice piece...the 03-04 cobra only works in 4.6 applications...dont understand why...

i am going to take my mishimoto to a radiator shop and get their opinion on it..and ill report back even if doesn't agree with what Ive said.

The leaking problem associated with some of the Mishimoto radiators relates to the use of stock mounting brackets. Mishimoto attempted to solve it by making their own custom brackets but I don't know how successful this fix has been. Mishimoto have been very good about replacing leaking units so I don't think anyone can fault their customer service.
I've had my Mishimoto radiator for more than 3 years with no issues. Another thing to remember is that you need to use the red coolant (Dexcool or similar) if your car has an aluminium radiator. Many people make the mistake of using the green coolant only to find that brown sludge builds up at the filler neck, and the same green coolant could also be responsible for some of the radiator leaks.
The OP shouldn't be having clearance problems between the fan and the water pump. Something's definitely not right 'cause there should be plenty of clearance if the fan shroud is mounted flush with the radiator.
