So I practically had a fairly new BBK Throttle body gave to me (paid 100 bucks for it) this past week from a buddy that took it off his car to sell the car. Before ya'll start saying I wasted my money and should have bought this or that, the guy I bought if from his uncle owns a shop and has a dyno this TB produced 12 extra HP on a bone stock 07 GT auto so something is producing power from stock. Now the problem. I came home followed the YouTube video and also the instruction sheet. Volt meter read 0.78 which I thought was low but proceeded on with the install. The volt meter read anywhere between 0.75 or 0.80 until I finally found a ground decent enough for it to settle at 0.78. I did everything by the video and instructions. The only thing I did different is I did disconnect the battery. Now my problem! I have a check engine light I checked the volt meter after install rotated the little spring made sure the butterflys open went over all my connections but still have a check engine light. Ive done the turn key off and on 4 times thing and still the engine light even turned my car completely on and let it idle it idled a little high 800RPM instead of 600 even idled smoother than before seemed like. Im almost tempted to unplug it replug my old TB up check the voltage and start all over or connecting my programmer and clearing the error codes. Can anyone give me some pointers or a solution to fix this? It would be appreciated Ive only got one more day to work on it before I gotta start driving it to work again. Thanks Guys!

All I'll say is that on all the Mustang forums I go on the BBK is like poison, nothing but a headache for people using them. I've yet to see someone who has one, has zero problems, and posts a big gain as a result of having it. The stock TB isn't even a restriction until over 500whp so all motor I doubt you would see a difference at all.

That being said anything is possible and maybe there could be some power to be gained from it. You will need a new tune though to get it dialed in, you can't just swap it for the stock part and have it work correctly. These drive-by-wire things are pretty picky and can be very annoying if they're not set up right.

These are the codes I got this morning after 2nd install... P1224 - Throttle Position Sensor B out of Self-Test Range, P1124 - Throttle Position Sensor out of Self-Test Range. I started the car and it runs and idles smooth. This morning I took it off put the old on back on. I took my programmer set it back to the stock program and started the install of the BBK. This time the volt I got was 1.24 installed the BBK and now instead of 4 error codes I got just the two posted above. I took my programmer and cleared the codes. The car was running and idling smooth. Im about to take it out and see what happens.

See what it does without any codes I guess. See if the test drive will cause the codes to come back.

Just trying to help you out here. If the previous owners car was running correctly before you put it on your car, then there must be something on the install you need to re check. Im in no way saying you dont know what you're doing, im just trying to help.

I have installed several and never had any problems, but most purchasers have nothing but problems

The throttle body is real sensitive to the voltage reading that the tps sensor sends back to the computer. The voltages vary from car to car. That's why they can't preset it in any adjustment. First you have to check the stock TB reading at the tps, then when you are assembling the BBK TB recheck and usually reset the voltage to what the stock one was. The tps AND the motor control wires both need to be plugged in when checking. Most don't plug in the motor wires.

There is also a round 'return' spring inside the motor area that needs to be clocked 180 degrees counterclockwise to install properly. I have had them turn it the otherway and it doesn't run right.
Some of these new drive by wire TB's are not the simple 'bolt on and go' TB's of the past.

Give that a try and see what happens :nice:
