Differential & axles: Strange vs Moser vs FRPP

I'm looking to upgrade my diff and axles on my 96 cobra to a 31 spline. The car is currently making 580 rwhp and I'm hoping to make the rear end capable of 800 rwhp so I have room to turn it up. I do mostly street driving and an occasional track day. Has anyone here had experience with Moser or Strange diffs with axles, or FRPP's diff with carbon fiber clutches? Recommendations and/or advice will be appreciated :nice:

Ford Racing all the way , not terribly expensive , and use stock wheel studs which you will thank me later for when you break one and are out of town and cant wait for summit to order Moser replacements ,

Ive never used Strange they were always higher priced

Superior axles suck on 99-04 cars though I can tell you that

Mosers are good but they dont use stock sized wheel studs and you have to buy the studs extra which makes the cost slightly more than the Ford axles

Eaton is the only diff to get IMO

No experience with Strange or the FRPP axles.

I use 31 spline Mosers with a Detroit TruTrac and they have held up great to 6200rpm+ launches for 3 seasons of track use. Can't say they same for the housing after 6 years :rlaugh:

I have Moser axles and the studs they use are the same size studs as the factory axles. Moser or Strange 31 spline axles will be your best bet. If it was an all out track car, I would go ahead and step up to 33 spline axles, but if you only drag race it a few times a year you should be fine with 31's.

I also use the FRPP 31 spline diff. with carbon fiber clutches(03/04 Cobra diff). If you want something to handle 800hp, the Detroit TruTrac is probably what you want.

Do you not think any of the LSD's will hold up to the power? I've thought about the Detroit but I'm worried about driveability. I'm going to be mostly on the street and I still want to be able to take turns and get around in parking lots. Does anyone have any experience with them? Am I going to end up with axle problems with the Detroit?

I've got a friend using an Auburn LSD in his Whippled 03 Cobra making 620rwhp. He's taken it to the track numerous times without an issues and drives it all the time on the street. Eaton also makes a good LSD differential.

Detroit locks under power and unlocks upon negative load, ie hitting the brakes or releasing the throttle. My friend has one and has never had a problem with it for 15,000 miles. The tires just chirp if you take turns with heavier then needed throttle pressure.

My bad, I was thinking the true trac was their name for the detroit locker but obviously I was wrong... So some of you have had good luck with the true trac, would you buy it again? Any disadvantages that you've experienced? Thanks again for everybody's input!
