clearance

i'm not following you, sorry

what is the size of the opening of the main (crankshaft) bearings when torqued down?
what is the size of the crankshaft?
what is the size of the opening of the rod bearings when torqued down?
what is the size of the rods?

the difference in sizes between the (thing) and its bearing is the clearance. my understanding is that .001 is good.

or is that not what you are asking?

i'm researching parts piece by piece.
probe rods 11669(big end bore dia.-2.311")
eagle crank 103513850(rod journal dia.-2.310")
my question is will these parts work together with great harmony?
those are good rods for a great price. i'm not building a super high performance motor, but i will beat the crap out of it probably every weekend

there are bearings that go between the crank's rod journals and the rods' big ends. with only .001" difference, there would be no room for those bearings.

to make those work together, you would probably need to take them to a machine shop and have the me re-sized to make room for rod bearings.

on the chp site they have kit #10682-SCA-579-F393
the big end on the rod is 2.311"
rod journal on the crank is 2.311"
if this is a matched set and comes as a kit, are they wrong or advertising wrong. i understand what your saying about having clearance for the bearings, and maybe its just me being an idiot. but what am i missing here.
