Hey guys...I have the 89 GT with Ford racing Shorties on it, I was thinking of replacing them with Long Tubes. How would that effect he sound quality? I have Offroad H-Pipe which I will have to swap out for a Long Tube H-pipe and I have an American Thunder kit 2 chamber flows.

I believe if you have a AOD the longtubes will not fit. If you have a 5spd you'll be ok. I have BBK's and they fit on my 90 vert. You will need to go with a mini starter and Flaming river or Max Mtrsprts Steering knuckle for clearance. I had to go that route on my Vert so be prepared. Also on the passenger side longtube you may have to lift the engine to get the header to clear obstructions.
It will be loud with longtube headers and 2 Chamber mufflers.

Depending on how much your car is modified, which you did not say, you may just want to skip them.
You'll be spending alot of money and getting nearly nothing if your car isn't well modified.

Im looking for Sound to start. Is it worth the $400 bucks to swap them out? This is phase 1 though, Im setting up for the Trick Flow top End kit for June. Im getting itchy now so i was ging to swap the headers. I was told BBK no other mods with starters etc.... just bolt right up to a Long Tube H-Pipe.
