2012 GT Prem ordered!

  • Sponsors (?)

Congratulations!

I am very close to ordering one myself, prhaps as soon as this weekend. Dealers tell me the same thing, eight weeks or so - in my case (living in the great white north) I really would not want it to arrive much earlier than that. I am OK with even May delivery, as then get six months before worrying about stuff like winter tires, etc etc...

Please provide more details of you new 'Stang, like options etc...

Congrats again!

I actually sat down with new car sales today and inquired about anticipated 2012 delivery dates. They are obviously taking orders for them, and they are already in production, but they are saying middle to late May. I'm too dang anxious and don't know if I will be able to wait that long! From what I can tell, the 2012's only add lights to the vanity mirrors, and a garage door opener. With the 12's coming in so soon, it is likely that we will see rebates and be able to get better deals on the 11's to get them off the lot. I'll probably go with the 11 for that reason

Yes, the "improved" sun visors and the HomeLink addition are about the only real changes, except for adding Lava Red as the new color. I also think the order guide shows the addition of the selectable power-steering setting as a change for 2012.

My beef right now with taking a leftover 2011 is the fact they are only offering a $500 rebate for doing so. Not much when you consider the difference in depreciation between the new model and the 2011 - suspect it might get better but probably not until there are a number of 2012's on the lots...

I thought that the rebates on the 2011 were $1,500 and there weren't any yet announced for the 2012 model. Did Ford announce a $1000 rebate for 2012 that I missed?

I was REAL close to ordering a 2012 model but then I found a used Red 2011 GT CS with a glass roof, auto transmission, viper remote start and 8,000 miles on it for $32K (private seller so this was the out the door price) and couldn't resist. I couldn't justify spending an extra 3-5 grand to get one spec'd just how I want but this was close enough. I just got it titled and registered this morning :D

This car originally came from Texas so it has a front license plate cover that I don't NEED in Arizona. Since removing it would leave ugly holes in the front, I have to decide if I just want to get some sort of filler plate for it or go all out and get vanity plates for my car (front & rear).

As for the specs, I went for:

GT Premium Rapid Spec 400A
6 Speed Manual Trans.
3.73 Ratio Rear end
Comfort Group
Brembo Brakes w/ 19" Wheels
Reverse Sensing and Security Package
Kona Blue w/ Charcoal Black Interior
HID Headlights
Electronics Package
Rear Video Camera

I will put the Lemans stripes on myself.

I think it will be faster than my 66 Stang...
