Pics of the new stereo

Installed in a few weeks ago, figured I'd post some pics for anyone interested in getting a new stereo. Mainly to show that rear USB is the only way to go! Routed the cable around the shifter and under the cupholders. Filed one of the slots in the center console enough to fit the head of the cable through, and just cut a slit in the felt liner.

No visible cables at all unless you decide to put it in the cupholder as I did above. If I'm listening to Pandora I'll leave my phone in the cupholder so I can access it easily, otherwise my iPod classic stays in the console out of sight.

Headunit is an Alpine x305. The screen is gorgeous for a little single DIN.

Very nice! I also put in an Alpine iPod stereo with a cable to the center console a few years ago (well before the iPhone -- see sig). The Mach 460 was actually a great stock stereo, but there is no comparison with having my entire music library with me in a 60G iPod.

Are you still going thru the stock speakers and associated trunk amplifiers?

Yes I am. I turned the High Pass Filter on and hooked the RCA's into the subwoofer output. I don't have much bass but it's supposedly a "safe" setup and the tweeters sound GREAT for a stock sound system.

I have my 120GB classic that I keep everything on, stays in the car permanently. I just pull out the iPhone when I want to listen to Pandora. The rubber case holds it in place so I can just lay it down flat next to the cupholders. Otherwise the Classic stays out of sight in the console.

Just got the iPhone a couple weeks ago.

Looks good!

I did the exact same thing - rear USB routed under the console to the armrest storage bin. I just leave an old iPod with a cracked screen in there all the time that has most of my music on it. I love the setup, just wish the iPod controls on the headunit weren't so cumbersome.

Nice, works very well. Just not enough space in the glovebox, and it's a nice reach.

The Alpine x305 has GREAT controls. I can scroll through my 90GB of music with a breeze. My old Pioneer was a PITA although it was a nice headunit (for the price).
