Hey folks, I am installing the sound deadener/insulation, aluminum faced stick back stuff and was wondering how far to go inside the quarters, trunk quarters & outer tubs you would carry this? Looks like I have enough to complete but why chance it.
That sound deadener does not have to cover every square inch. It was designed to stop resonation. Example to do its job effectively for lets say a trunk lid, all it takes is a square foot of the material stuck to the underside of the lid, you dont have to cover the whole underside with the stuff. When I did my car every large flat surface got a nice big piece of deadener. I didn't worry about stuffing it into corners and such. You will get different opinions on this, but thats mine.
Whatever i cant reach with stick on deadner, we spray. When we used to do REALLY high end installs, the car would get double layers. I usually cover whatever I can see.
